I thought Beckman was ok last night, but I’d like to see more desperation/maximum effort in his game, lots of stick checks and I thought he could have put more effort in trying to get open in the offensive zone, he looked kinda timid like he didn’t want to make a mistake…

I thought we saw max effort and some swagger in every one of Sammy Walker’s games when he was up earlier this season. The kid wasn’t afraid to play his game or to make a mistake (think of all the times he dangled with the puck, or went to the net with it) that just showed his confidence in himself, something Beckman still lacks….

Goaltending and Powerplay are the ONLY things keeping the Wild afloat…bet that wasn’t on your bingo card to start the season…

Not a chance in the world anyone saw this coming. Just imagine if we had this year’s specialty teams play LAST year. We would have won the cup and Im not kidding. The 5×5 scoring, career years by literally everyone, and a PP and PK that were essentially great? Man.

In a perfect world they have this year’s special teams/goaltending last year and then last year’s special teams/goaltending this year. Would have got them a cup last year and then Bedard this year woot

Beckman just looks a couple steps behind most of the game

The 5v5 play isn’t even bad anymore. The team defense is elite right now but the pucks just aren’t going in. A 5% shooting percentage isn’t going to last forever.

Does Addison get back in if they keep scoring PP goals with him scratched??

    Agree…
I will add I will take a first round matchup with Dallas vs gaining a couple spots in the draft.
Give me some Robertson and KK in a playoff series.

Obviously they aren’t going ever going to be “good” 5 on 5. But it won’t be this bad. They will start getting some bounces and start putting pucks in the net a little better at least. Literally rock bottom right now.

Taking Reaves out of the lineup should add 2 goals a week right there…..HA

I think Dallas is a bit of a pretender. They are sitting with 12 loser points. They can’t win a overtime game to save their souls. A first round match up with Dallas is one the Wild may be able to win.

And would be fun. I think the whole west is wide open honestly but first round matchup with Dallas vs being out and moving up a few spots. Give me 5,6,7 games vs Dallas.

Dallas has an unreal goalie now so that series would be tough but fun. I just hate their damn goal song.

Every series would be tough for wild, but I would still rather see it than not.

Or maybe if Dallas was even average at gimmick hockey they’d be running away with the West. Just another way to look at it. I think they have a really good team this year and will for a long time.

1 shootout W and we’re back to talking playoffs. I love it. 50/50 chance they cross over to the Pacific too, that would be the dream.

I’m kind of surprised that they give Beckman 3rd line minutes over Dewar or Shaw’s 8 shifts all night.
Those 2 guys are good enough to be with the big club all year, but they bring a guy from the minors and give him regular ice time.
Kind of a slap in the face.

Maybe but games are usually close with wild.
Obviously not just with the wild if they have gone to OT that many times as well. 26 RW would put you in 7th-8th place in the east.

There’s gotta be more to the trade than a 4th round pick right? Hoping it is a I’ll scratch your back type deal and hopefully there’s something in the works behind the scenes. If not, not a great look for BG. If him and Deano keep on a fairly stubborn path of a high desire to not do much other than what they are doing KK and dans will not be happy in a yr or 2 more of this. Understand centers are tough to come by and all the cap space issues, but at some point the way they are running, coaching and setting up this team it doesn’t look like a system built for anything but struggling to be relevant.

Thought Boldy’s game was way better and hopefully he can keep that trend going in the right direction. Keep Reaves as an option but not so much in the lineup on the ice. Shaw, Walker, Beckman, Dewar and Duhaime all deserve more minute’s on the 3rd and 4th lines. The energy they bring is a big pickup to the team. The pk minute’s by the core pk guys and what they do is impressive. Never seen a pk kill as consistent at force teams to be cautious cause they know the pk killers aren’t just looking to kill off they pp, they are smartly looking to catch teams off guard or who run 3 forwards and only one d-man. If Boldy, Freddy or one of the younger guys started heating up this team “might” be able to be more able to score 5 on 5. If this team just up’d their 5 on 5 goals by 10% right now and the defense stayed the same little doubt the wins would start coming. And for Pete’s sake sit Flower and ride Gus. He’s been d @ m good! A little tweaking to the lines every night isn’t a bad thing and those in game adjustments could really help.

Basically got a little draft capital for minimal cash. Russo just said pregame that the Wild have made it clear to other teams they will bankroll teams with the cap space they have right now for a little kickback for them. Said they have close to $10 million this season for a move or to bankroll other moves. Sounds like they might do it again even.

Why does there have to be more to the trade? The Wild basically gave Toronto $1.2 million in this season’s remaining salary cap ($74,000 in actual cash) for a 4th round draft pick in 2025

What more is there to understand? The Wild still has like $11 million left in this seasons salary cap to either spend or be a trade broker again two more times…. The cap resets after the season is over so why not spend it?

The Wild could do it only 2 more times, limit is 3

I don’t think they are going to make an actual move. There’s just no reason to trade assets away for a rental for this team. Kane is not going to get this team to a cup. Neither is Toews or Boesser, and we don’t have money to keep them on the team for more than this season.

Just not worth it in my opinion.

Cole Smith recognition post… Number 36 for Nashville today is #oneofus and I’m guessing no one knows who he is.

Really great kid who was an absolute nobody coming out of high school. Worked his balls off to get in at UND, built a reputation there, and now playing every game in the NHL this year. Just signed a 1-way extension for next year too! Awesome story that he earned through hard work and really couldn’t happen to a better kid.

Funny story, he’s a big boy and had a spirited tilt with Shaw in the AHL a couple years back. Shaw gives up at least 6″ but Cole hammered Boldy open ice and he didn’t hesitate to drop em. Now they’re coaches at the same hockey camp in the summer jester

This looks like a Wild team. Duhaime looking like he did when they first brought him up last season.

Duhaime is on one today, lots of energy. Reavo might have saved a goal or 2 with good d zone plays.

We might not see Sam Steel again if Foligno is healthy soon.

Imagine thinking this Nashville team takes a playoff spot from this Wild team. They’re throwing in the towel at the trade deadline.

Best 2 periods the Wild have played in months, can they make it 3?

Way more energy. Passes are crisper. Gaining and exiting the zones way better. How many pucks has Reaves been hit by already on both ends, ouch.

and Goligoski had to ruin it….

Its funny that he’s made the same exact mistakes Addy was pulled out for…

He tried grabbbing a puck that went off a ref that was bouncing the whole time. Not sure that is the same as Addy.
