Some big boy games both going to OT tonight. Might have to take a couple Wild games off after watching those teams play. Avs coming to town after a fast paced OT/shootout game against Tampa. Wild coming off back to back shootouts. Could be sloppy tonight.

Rumor has it Faber’s in a sling. Any Gopher faithful know what happened and what the prognosis is?

He’s actually been playing 3rd line in LA for a bit now. I took a stroll through a Kings fans board and it was pretty funny. Concensus was they all love his offense, super fun to watch, takes some stupid penalties, and turns the puck over

Imagine that. Where have we heard that before?

Sounded like Faber will be back before the NCAA playoffs start…but selfishly for the Wild it wouldn’t be the worst thing if the injury was a bit longer term and he couldn’t play this season and delayed his ELC to start next year thus not burning the 1st year for a few games… I’d like to see him play asap though…

I know it’s still early, but tonight’s game kinda feels like a must win in terms of the team gaining or losing confidence for the stretch run…if they can score some goals and beat the Avs, that would give them a good shot in the arm for the rest of the homestand, if they get blown out, it could quickly spiral…

Georgiev starting again after a shootout loss last night plus travel to a different time zone. Great opportunity to put some pucks in the net, need to jump on them early.

I agree. Back to back is definitely to the wild’s benefit. I actually thought the Wild played better the last couple games just arent scoring.

I also think tonight’s game is an attempt to break the cupsnake world record…so fans should be plenty juiced to make some noise tonight )

Addison out for Goose. I don’t hate it, the kid still can’t play D. Let’s hope they can score a PP goal or 2 without him, and maybe even a 5v5 goal if they’re really feeling it.

I don’t know… for a team that can’t score and you sit your highest scoring defensman???? What has Merril done to warrant staying in the lineup?

Playoff desperation hockey in February is nothing new to the Wild. They should win tonight. Problem comes in when they finally work their way into the playoffs they are gassed from two months of playoff hockey. Then the desperation leaves because they attained their goal of making the playoffs which results in a first round exit. Rinse and repeat. coffee

Addy might be the highest scoring but it’s only because of PP, I think he’s the lowest scoring at 5v5. He’s been the NHL version of a gadget guy and as the president of the Calen Addison fan club I’ve been really disappointed in his season.

Healthy scratch might have something to do with how Panthers scored their only goal last game, and that being the one thing Merril is good at.

Yeah Dean was quite direct in commenting why Addison is sitting “same reason as last time. He’s not competing in his end”.

I get he’s 1 dimensional right now, but we can’t score…offense is what he’s good at…the Powerplay is the only way we’ve been scoring any goals (other than last games 1 goal – which Addy assisted on) The goal Florida scored was a nice tip, I doubt other defenseman are going to play it any differently, maybe you could argue he needed to go after the stick? but the 6’3″ guy was moving into net front position at the time and Addy engaged him…i’d put more responsibility for that goal on Zuccy who was confused on which D to cover…but it was a bing/bang play…

So now we’re playing a 37 year old who litterally could not physically shoot the puck last game against one of the fastest players in the league and then likely putting Spurgeon on the #1 PP who everybody in the arena knows won’t shoot from the point and passes in slow motion…

All to make a learning moment for a rookie defenseman in one of the biggest games of the year….

Good question…Beckman is one of the hottest scorers in the AHL right now, even he might be able to provide an offensive spark…but Deano will die on his sword and roll with Steel again…

No, not when we can now callup a player without putting somebody on waivers…GMBG obviously isn’t ready to do that with Steel yet…

This is called being an apologist…

Look at Merril and his guy, look at Addison and his guy.

Come on….you’ve played hockey… Addy’s guy came from the faceoff dot skating down towards the net, Merrill rode his guy out from behind the net…2 completely differently ways to get leverage on a player… like I said, he probably should have got his stick in there more though…

    Put the shovel down, Joe.

I love Addison, but that boy needs to learn how to defend. And I think the frustration comes from what looks like a lack of engagement or effort in the D-zone. I mean he’s got half as many blocked shots as the next closest regular D, the same amount as Goose in over twice the games.

Yeah it’s still a big risk to take him off the PP when that’s the only way they can score, no one’s arguing there.

In what way does Addison have leverage?

That’s what I was trying to convey, Merril did, Addison didn’t…we agree its a risk to pull him, hopefully Goose doesn’t get cooked by Mac tonight…

He is a rookie D man that lacks size and doesn’t really play strong D. Not unusual for these types of players to be scratched to see the game through a different lens.
I doubt it was just the goal that lead to the scratch.

Speaking of dieing on the sword.

Joe you should check your blood pressure. I am starting to worry about you. This thread won’t have a chance at 200 if one of the four horseman go down.
