I guess that is my question. Wouldn’t he be Arbitration eligible for next season which would probably be under 3 million per on a 1 year deal, as he makes 787k now.

Yeah $3m is probably his range and that $3m is going to cost a player like Addison, right? Better chance to hope he’ll take a team friendly deal to play another season on a team with good D after a nightmare in Ottawa.

Gudas is dirty but only fights little guys or if he gets jumped. So how does Reavo have any effect on that?

Yeah not sure how they make all the pieces fit honestly. Looking back I think everyone thought Boldy would be doing a bridge deal right? So that now changes some things.
Goalies are tougher because of the comps but Kappo is making 2.75 with two full NHL seasons under his belt before he signed. I would think that is a close comp. So could they get him for 2 to 2.5. I dunno.

Kappo is the same comp I was thinking, had 65 games and filed for arb. Gus will have close to that many games with better recent numbers after this season. Kahkonen is also one of the worst goalies in the league now, cautionary tale.

Wild have $7.5m to sign 6 players: Gustavsson, Addison, Duhaime, Shaw, Freddy, Steel (better chance call-up or UFA)

Swap Greenway for Sammy Walker and it’s $9.6m for the same 6 players. Math stil doesn’t work unless someone signs well under market value.

This is assuming Rossi and Faber full-time

    Faber

Beyond the Pond had a guest pro scout on Saturday and put Michaletti in his place on the Faber subject lol. It took multiple tries, but eventually Michaletti backed down and let the scout’s opinion be the final say on the topic.

Ha that was Scott Wheeler, the scout whose prospect rankings we’ve been following the last couple weeks.

Yeah no doubt going to be tight.
The 2 guys that could take team friendly deals are Freddy and Shaw. Freddy has way more opportunity with wild than most teams. Shaw has had a long road with injuries and Wild have stuck with him.
Goose although has a NTC I can’t imagine he will want to be a healthy scratch 7th D man another season.

Maybe flower does retire, but I just don’t see it.

Agree on Fleury but the fact he specifically signed a contract that allows him to retire without cap penalties says something. Russo keeps harping about Goose but I can’t figure out who would trade for him.

Shaw’s pencilled in at 2 year league minimum and I don’t think that’s team friendly – I think that’s fair for a 4th line/13th forward RFA. He’ll be happy to get offered a 1-way contract. Same thing Dewar got this summer.

Don’t you think Goose could play for a cap eating rebuilding team? I get he would have to agree to it, but I would think playing would be a bigger priority, but who knows if he would agree to that either.
It’s going to be tight. Anyway you slice it.

I honestly have no idea, just a weird situation. Not sure if he wants to go to a good team, or if any good teams would want him. Is going to a bottom dweller so he at least gets to play what he wants? To the Yotes with a mid-round pick would be the obvious trade in that case. A buyout only saves $0.5m next year and then a penalty the following season so I don’t think that makes any sense.

We complain about lack of scoring and giving Boldy help but are thankful for a guy that doesn’t really do anything when on the ice. You think Bennet is going to play different because Reaves is in the lineup vs him not being in the lineup. My guess is he could care less.

I think Bennet would think twice of doing something cheap, he always plays on the edge and that wouldn’t change…

Of course I would want a Sami Walker/Adam Beckman to play instead of Reaves, but GMBG obviously isn’t ready to put somebody like Steel on waivers yet or he would have done so already, so it’s either play Steel (who’s been terrible) or Reaves (who at least hasn’t hurt the team when he’s been on the ice) those are the options right now…

You can say Steel has been terrible which he has but was still playing big important minutes. Still has more upside than Reavo.
Reavo plays 7-8 minutes and basically doesn’t do anything.
They can both go on waivers at this point. My fist choice would be Reavo however as I don’t really think he is needed in any form. He was brought in because Moose was to important to lose to a fighting major. Well I don’t think that is the case at this point.
Honestly Moose may want to get into a few more scraps otherwise he isnt bringing a whole lot otherwise.

HA put Reavo in the spot Steel was in and see what kind of damage he can do. Steel being miscast wasn’t his fault… he should be in the role Shaw is in. He’s still a good PK guy and can play center/wing. I’d much rather have that in the lineup than the guy who makes the boys feel 6″ bigger.

Foligno and Greenway both gotta be significantly hurt this year. Greenway’s shoulder obviously well documented and I think Foligno is battling a back/core/hip type issue. How else do they go from being so dominant last year to just terrible this year. I think the injuries are playing a bigger role than fans realize. Thank God Ek is still bringing it – what a beast he is.

I can believe Greenway isn’t 100% because you can see him avoid big shoulder contact all the time, which kinda renders him useless, but Foligno’s issues are mental and effort based imo… he’s trying to do saucer passes over sticks on 2-1’s and 1 time passes crossing the zone, that’s not the type of player he is… I think his goal output last year went to his head and he’s cheating himself on what got him that contract in the first place, his work ethic… he gets a longer leash because he’s a team leader and a coach/fan favorite, but it’s becoming more and more obvious to everyone as the season goes…

Interesting the yotes are scratching Chychurin so he doesn’t get hurt before he is dealt. So either something is in the works or he is going to be sitting until the deadline which seems a bit ridiculous. There ask seems kind of ridiculous still as well.
I think it would be hilarious if everyone walks from him because price is to high and sits for 3 weeks. I guess that is a good way to tank as well.

I can’t remember where I saw it but it was a Greenway interview where he said he came back from surgerey on his shoulder. tweaked it missed a couple games and then came back and re injured it.
I took this as meaning he will need surgery again.

After the last game they can keep Steel between Dewar and Shaw. That was a very productive line for the minutes they play.

The Sirius radio talkers said Chycrun to the Kings involving Brandt Clarke is supposedly the deal but something must be holding it up now.

Brandt Clarke has been told he’s not being dealt, so the holdup is likely figuring out other pieces, Kings have alot of pieces…

Considering all the shots these guys block… How does that shot hurt Foligno so bad? Can’t be anything serious there can it?

Eric Staal is still in the league,I totally forgot about that. His last NHL hockey was for the Canadiens when they lost in the Cup Finals shock

But if there’s one thing that’s completely covered by a shin pad, it’s the knee cap. Even from the side.

How do guys still fall into Tkachuks BS? Such a rat and Brodin played right into it, master class really.
