We’ll see what those “future considerations” become, but the fact that there wasnt at least a prospect or a pick in there is just ridiculous. Good on the Canes for fleecing Vegas. I hope every team takes advantage of them whenever given the chance.
Falling off the 365 page pace a bit here boys, need to get the hay in the barn during free agency!
GMs around the league are absolutely punishing cap-strapped teams. Not boding well for the Wild in the future, but there’s nobody I’d rather have behind the wheel than GMBG. Well, besides maybe Yzerman

Sakic seems to be doing a fine job too…

The only wildcard the Wild has from a cap perspective the next few years is Boldy’s bridge deal (what will the aav be?)…they obviously won’t be doing much in free agency (thank god because its nothing but overpays) but they are setup now to survive the next 3 years…Zuccarello, Foligno and Hartman’s contracts are up in 2 years, but we’ll likely have Iowa guys ready to take those spots if they don’t take cheaper extensions…

The job sure gets alot easier when you’re picking from the top 3 in the draft for like 5 years and hit on those picks…

Brisebois in Tampa too.
I havent been seeing much content from development camp. I was hoping the Wild would post some videos, etc, but very little. Just one video the other day and it was just a fly by type video of the guys working out and then went to the rink.
speaking of videos, the prospect interview videos are pretty good, it was fun listening to Brad Bomberdier…Jesper is a pretty polished pro already, I think the timeline the Wild has for him will work out well…

FYI the 3 on 3 scrimmage tonight is going to be streamed on the Wild YouTube channel.
I’ve seen a bunch of Rossi videos from camp. Man he skates smooth.
Man…. We are loaded with good prospects… if they pan out watch out!
Hunter Haigt looks really good…I predict that kid climbs up the prospect rankings list faster than anybody else!
Lambos is getting lots of love too. Everyone has been impressed with Wallstedt so far. Very sound positioning and they already nicknamed him the Great Wall of St Paul. LOL

Great Wall of St Paul.Hahaha that’s great
Worst part about trading Kaapo is that tandem would have been called the Kahk-Wall
Haigt looked really quick and with a great set of hands. I maintain Lambos will be the best of the D-prospects. Hunt and O’Rourke are hopefully the future mean and nasty 3rd pairing.

Yeah, they sure like to play the body that is great. Neither of them are particularly big however. It will be interesting to see how the Iowa Wild season goes. It doesnt seem as though they have much in the way of offense because I am pretty sure the majority of these guys just drafted will go back to their former teams and not report to the AHL. I dont think the likes of Haight, etc will be in Iowa this year.
None of the 2022 draftees will be in the AHL this year. Ohgren and Yurov go back to Sweden and Russia. Haigt, Milne, Spacek, and Petrovsky back to the CHL. Lorenz is going to Denver and Healey to Harvard.
Iowa is losing Rossi, Dewar, and Rau up front so that’s why they went and got a couple AHL lifers on big minor’s contracts. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lose Beckman as well, Wild social media has really been pumping his tires and he looked good during Dev camp.
The D in Iowa should be really fun with 3 new prospects – Hunt, O’Rourke, and Simon Johansson. They still have Mermis and Hicketts from last year and signed an expensive vet as well. So to me that takes up all 6 spots with no room for Addison unless one of the young guys is scratched. I’m going to set myself up for heartbreak again, really hoping my guy Addy is in the NHL (WITH THE WILD) this year.
Was nice to see Marshall Warren at camp, he could pull a McBain and jump ship after this year. I don’t know if he has an NHL future but he looks pretty talented and I think he’ll have a big role at BC this year.
Looks like the Blackhawk have officially thrown in the towel, to make a run at the first draft pick. First Hagel at the trade deadline. He became one of Tampas best young players in the playoffs. Then trade DeBrincat and Dach, make no offer to Strome and Kubalik. This all leads to speculation that Kane may end up in Buffalo or the New York area. Toews may end up at a young team set to make a run, looking for a locker-room, been there done that guy. But they would need to eat some salary to make that happen. But that shouldn’t be an issue if Kane leaves. They won’t have any notable players left. Smells a lot like The Bulls bright idea to rebuild without Jordon. We all saw how that worked out for them. See how the record sellout crowds last. Although Chicago has proven to be a city fans will keep coming back to watch a team loose. Only bright point. Duncan Keith is retiring himself and overpaid salary they’ve been eating a chunk of.
The move I really don’t understand from Chicago is not qualifying Strome and Kubalik. Even if it goes to arbitration, why not just sign both of them to 1-2 year deals and then trade them for a decent pick at 50% salary retained.
The irony of Keith’s cap recapture penalty is it’s actually helping them reach the cap floor.

They still have 7 D already under contract. I just can’t see them having 3 mill sitting in the press box. Maybe they move Kulikov and have Goose as 7 as an injury guy rest guy.

SMH you can’t even let me go 1 hour with my illogical Addison hopefulness
Talbot was under contract too
No I agree with you was just doing the numbers in my head. Someone has to go in order for him to make it out of camp. Merril may not be ready so he might be an up and down guy.
I love him as a player, but it will be tough for Addison to crack the lineup and get out of the #7 D slot as things currently stand (unless there’s injuries this season) Then projecting out 2-3 years the next line of prospects (Faber/Lambos/O’Rourke/Hunt/Peart) will be fighting for the other 4 spots (with Brodin & Spurgeon signed for 5+ years and penciled is as 1-2)
Maybe he’s a 1-2 year stopgap until those prospects are fully ready? this offseason will determine Addison’s fate as his ELC is up…
Even if Dumba is willing to take a substantial haircut and accepts a $4aav, he’s going to want term instead and that then just pigeonholes everyone longer…
Something else to watch for, with all of this D prospect depth and if his development starts to take off the next few years, Peart will be a candidate to play out his college career and then go the route McBain took and not sign with the Wild and turn into a FA…

A lot of casual hockey fans don’t realize how terrible the Blackhawks were before they won a few Stanley Cups a decade ago. They were putridly bad. Like laughing stock of the league bad. They would average about 6000 fans/game at the United Center that seats 22,000 people. And it wasn’t just for a few years either. It was for the better part of 2 decades. I think they’re heading back down that road now lol.

Totally agree. The cap situation is not fun, but it’s manageable because we finally have a real GM who is an A player in an A league. Freaking hilarious watching Fletcher doing what the Fletch has always done and doing it TO Philly.
Also, the cap situation keeps us off the FA Crazy Train. Without going all propellerhead, I just can’t see how some of these teams are doing these deals. We think the payout on Parise/Suter was bad, some of these contracts I have to believe are going to come back to haunt some teams bigtime.
Still don’t understand the Johnny hockey signing.
With CBJ? I think he thought there was going to be more of a market than there ended up being. I think it was LeBrun who did a story on it that it was only 2 teams (NJ and CBJ) because Philly really couldnt get other moves done to make room.

isn’t he from New Jersey though??? The Devils young core is probably 2-3 years ahead of Columbus’s…I agree it didn’t make sense if NJ was serious and offered him a deal…last I heard was him saying “home’s only a 8 hour drive away now” or something to that effect…well, then why not just sign with NJ then?
