You know, some of this has to certainly fall on the coach. Right now the Wild are uncharacteristically lazy on defense. They loaf when it comes to man coverage in their own zone. Whatever Dean is doing right now, its clearly not working. Maybe next practice they need to show up without sticks. Don’t bother even bringing them and just skate grinders and circles for a couple hours?
I wonder how many “WTF’s” will be dropped when Deano and GMBG talk this morning… WTF was Dumba thinking on that play? No Idea…WTF was Foligno thinking on that play? No Idea…. WTF was Goligoski thinking on that play? No Idea….
On the positive side they avoided the too many men on the ice penalty.
That’s about the only positive I saw.
Did you guys think Hartman had a better game last night? I thought it was trending in a better direction. He was winning draws and playing physical. I didnt finish the whole game. Gave up after 2.

I paid close attention to his shifts and the only increase in his play I saw was just the byproduct of playing with Kirill and Zuccy (in terms he was getting some shot opportunities due to coverage focusing on Kirill and he didn’t do anything with those chances)…he’s still the same slow player he’s been all season, nothing different…There’s an obvious decline in his game since game 1 this season, it’s like he aged 3 years last offseason… it’s strange and not injury related…

Do pros ever bag skate? It’s a serious question.
kinda strange that NOBODY started a fight last night after Vegas pumped 3 goals in a short time period…Nobody stepped up to change the narrative or try to give the players some energy… that’s a bit alarming to me…
of course a Vegas player needs to oblidge and maybe they were challenged and smartly declined, but I didn’t see any attempts to get things riled up…

I had to actually look this up. I can recall a few in my younger days playing youth hockey.
Bag skate: (Bhag-sk-ate): the action of participating in a hockey practice in the absence of pucks, while skating unthinkable patterns for unimaginable durations usually as the result of an embarrassing loss.
To answer that question, I don’t know. But it shouldn’t be off the table.

They absolutely do, but with the condensed schedule of back to back games and required days off, it’s rare during the season to have an actual practice with a day off afterwards. You obviously don’t want to burn out their legs the day before a night game… so if the schedule lines up and there’s reason to do it, absolutley they can be bagskated…That and icetime are the only control mechanisims the coach has over NHL players…
I do think Hartman’s shoulder is an issue. I think it is affecting his shot.
But as said his skating is completely unrelated.

normally i’d agree as he didn’t have surgery so its likely not fully healed BUT his play from the start of the season (when he wasn’t injured) was so bad that he got pulled off the top line…
The only team that probably bag skates are the flyers.
Nobody is bag skating during the season.
Get on the Athletic there was an article a while back involving the wild and practices and the heart rate monitors they where.
It’s much more analytical now.
They actually practice less than most.

LOL because of their coach, Tortorella?! He does seem like the kind of coach that would do that. “Kiss my ass” – Torts
I’ve hear Russo talk about guys getting bag skated by Evason. Not often but it’s happened.
Don’t think you can waive any center at this point. But I hear ya.
Looks like other people are on board with my thinking.
Healthy scratches get bagged all season. But it takes a long break between games and some very poor play for coaches to bag the entire team like as a punishment. Well unless the coach is Torts, as mentioned. Really glad that guy is back in the league, pure comedy.
For the record I don’t necessarily disagree about waiving Steel, just thought it was funny to cite Micheletti Jr. as a legit take.
Never said he was legit. Just said he agreed.
You can cherry pick bad takes from anybody out there. Doesn’t mean they’re always making bad takes.
Have you read Mich’s twitter feed?
I do agree with his take on engaging the fan base for some kind of playoffs. You are going to lose a lot of of engagement over the next 2.5 seasons if you except status quo.
Moving Rossi for a rental would not be a good idea though.
I’ll see if I can find the article on practice conditioning (Bag skate) and post. Basically they all wear heart monitors if they reach a certain threshold for the week they don’t practice as science will show you it gives you negative affect after the fact.
Is it weird that I had a players only meeting with a Mite 2 team after a bad game.
They came out flying the next game so must have worked.
The look on the parents faces when I kicked them out was priceless.

Nope. It’s just wild.
They should let KK sit back and sip some high-end Russian vodka and laugh while the rest of the team gets bag skated

It was a joke, man. Even said I agree about Steel. I’m just here to rip on the Micheletti’s this week
I generally agree with Alex’s takes but that one was terrible.
Shaw in, Reaves out. Brodin back and Ek with Duhaime and Boldy tonight.
It’s about time.
Agreed. As I’ve said before, really the only thing I don’t like about this regime is it takes them awhile to realize they need to switch things up. Often too long. Reaves hasn’t been a factor since about game 4 of his stint with the club.
