I really like how Boldy is getting physical. He has made some pretty big hits over the past month.

Duhaime just destroyed Suter at the end of the period along the boards… ouch!
Gus saved the team that period…
So many Wild players just look slow and uncoordinated…
February 8, 2023 at 8:18 pm #2180225Not much to like about that 1st period except for Gustafsson. Guys blocking their own shots, straight up losing their balance and falling over, bad passes, whiffing on the puck, jeeeeeezzzzz
February 8, 2023 at 8:43 pm #2180232Addy addy addy… that pinch will get you a trip to the pressbox quickly…

To bad Boldy’s mistakes and fumbly bumbly puck handling doesn’t get him in the press box. Am utterly not impressed at all with Boldy.
February 8, 2023 at 8:48 pm #2180236This team needs to get into 3 consecutive fights again! Release some frustration! They are just dead out there…
February 8, 2023 at 8:54 pm #2180241I think I’m done here for tonight down 3.
They are gonna make me turn on the Twolves….
basseyesPosts: 2517February 8, 2023 at 9:02 pm #2180245This game is just a gong show of wtf plays… it’s actually a bit comical how bad the Wild are playing…
basseyesPosts: 2517RipjiggenPosts: 11625February 8, 2023 at 9:28 pm #2180254Addy hasn’t been great at 5 on 5 for a while. There is a reason he is a -15.
February 8, 2023 at 9:55 pm #2180255Deano’s had the chance to put Boldy at 1C down 2 goals in the 3rd… Hartman doing nothing.. no changes..

Wonder if Evasons unwillingness to engage in any line creativity in almost any situation is going to number his days or if that’s BG style as well. I mean moving Hartman back to 1C was hardly a creative move. The body language of both Boldy and KK spell frustration in all caps. Elliot Friedman mentioned Van Reimsdyk as a fit in Minnesota so all the blogs are running with it as if it’s gospel. I don’t see him moving the needle that much for this team.
Bring Rossi up already ffs.

Wolves won 143-118 at Utah. Just in case you were interested!
February 9, 2023 at 8:22 am #2180305Sorry for the Debbie Downer post….
This team has been in a funk for a month+, guys who’ve been playing bad (Foligno, Greenway, Hartman) have been bad all year, none of this is new…Deano has no more levers to pull other than to stack the deck with Boldy centering the top line or make some AHL callups. The defense is just bad across the board with the exception of Spurgeon and Brodin, goalies have kept us in games we should have been blown out in…
Next year is going to be alot of the same as we don’t have the capspace to make meaningful changes…Sometimes its hard to accept, but this team just isn’t good enough…When you have $13-$15 million in dead money on your cap there’s going to be roster pain and we’re feeling it right now and will continue to feel it next year as well…GMBG and the Team can say all of the right things, but deep down they’ve known these struggles were coming…
I think the last 2 games are a preview of what’s to come, any success we have will likely only be due to what Kirill can do by himself on the ice…The only light peeking through at the end of the tunnel for this season is 7 home games in a row starting tonight…
February 9, 2023 at 8:45 am #2180324There’s another scenario that GMBG could do, but I agree it’s a bit drastic and unlikely…
He COULD go scorched earth and trade away Greenway AND Foligno either at the deadline or offseason and entertain getting somebody like Boesser to help Boldy out on the 2nd line next season…Now in Boesser’s case it would still require Vancouver eating a portion of his caphit to get his number more in line with his production (at least this would be GMBG’s negotiating tactic)
Some will argue this will mess with the team leadership/chemistry trading a guy like Moose, but we’ll have leadershio changes anyways with Dumba being gone next season and we have guys like Ek, Brodin, Kaprizov that could immediately step in and wear an A…
This team is going to look alot different in 2 years when the caphell is over, we have $ available to sign a UFA or two and several of our top prospects need roster spots, why not speed up that timeline to start next year?
It’s an option….
tswobodaPosts: 8554February 9, 2023 at 9:44 am #2180350Page 116 is pretty depressing from the Wild faithful here. Nothing better than the middle of a losing streak and fans going through the “they need to trade literally everyone and play the minor leaguers” phase. And there’s really nothing to worry about, they had the infamous ‘team only meeting’ after the game last night – all will be fixed now.
Everyone remember this exact same conversation when they had a 2-8 stretch after the all-star break last year??
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22882February 9, 2023 at 9:51 am #2180355Everyone remember this exact same conversation when they had a 2-8 stretch after the all-star break last year??
They lost quite the stretch of games last year after the break and its always a swoon in February.
February 9, 2023 at 9:58 am #2180360I agree there will be swings, but this isn’t a recent trend…the past 7-8 weeks they’ve been playing pretty much the same, they would scrape a few wins over lower teams and get some OT loss points together to keep themselves in the mix, but the product on the ice hasn’t been good…
of course this 7 game homestand could change things (it has to or they’re done)
Maybe Spurgeon raised his voice a bit in the team only meeting last night…Foligno pointed out yet again that “he and other guys need to produce more” but I think this is the 3rd or 4th time he’s used that talking point in a post game interview this year…
we’ll see…
