The AHL All Star Skills competition was last night and it follows the old school skills format. It was worth the watch! One thing they did was remove all of the side plexiglass so the fans and players could interact with each other. The NHL could learn a thing or two watching it….

The AHL fastest skater was almost 1 second faster than the NHL guy who won it (Svechnikov)

Wallstedt looked really good on all of the shooting drills….

Do you think this guy is just that fast or the NHLer’s sandbagged it?

The Wild in the top 3 prospect pool! Very impressive.

The NHLers were going close to 100%, I thought to myself a couple of times that the clock seemed to run a little long when they crossed the finish line? maybe that was part of it….the AHL skater who won was a little guy, so that likely played a role too…

I’ve never been a big fan of having at least one representative from every team there. If you’re an all star, you’re an all star, and if you aren’t, you aren’t. Some of it is obviously a popularity contest because of fan voting, but there’s clearly players that are there solely because they require one from every team.

Are we officially done with the AS Game yet? sleeping

rotflol The Horvat contract. Isles missed the playoffs by 20 points last year and aren’t going to make it are on the bottom of the bubble this year. They have 1 contributing forward under 30 (now 2 I guess), no prospect pool, and just signed Horvat until he’s 36. Oh and they fired the reason they made the Conf Finals last summer. WTF are they doing here?

It makes the broadcast look like a high school hockey game.

Woof. Sloppy play and penalty problems again. Was hoping for better coming out of the break.

I don’t think we’ll be giving up the most penalty minutes against title anytime soon…..

Might be time to end the Sam Steel experiment. The Wild seem as if something is going to have to force them to give Rossi another shot. Even Rossi has to be wondering what is going on.

I agree with Steel. He has had plenty of time to show something but its not working out.

Wild & Devils down to the top 2 NHL Prospect pool rankings by Scott Wheeler… IMO the Devils have better top end prospects, but the Wild has a better overall pool and we have the top goalie prospect, something the Devils are lacking…

    we’ll find out tomorrow

we’ll find out at today’s practice if Deano is finally willing to shake the lines up…

Are they actually going to practice though? They hardly ever practice.

My guess is that if Dean intends to change the lines up, they’ll want to get some line rushes in…I know they have a tight schedule of games, but they just came off a bye week…

I wonder if it’s time to end that experiment as well. They are looking like they could use as much practice as they can get in.

Yeah earlier this season when they were fighting injuries it made some sense to not practice every day, but now they are healthy so at least get a skate in.

That’s a tough L to the worst NHL roster I can remember. Seriously they have 3 legitimate players and the rest are random AHLers, rookies, or bad contracts they took on to get assets. Gotta hand it to the coach for getting them to play hard though. They didn’t look like Chicago or Anaheim at all.

Agree Steel is a black hole, but that line was also the only one getting consistent chances so hard to point the finger there. They need to find some 5v5 depth offense ASAP. Fanbase is getting pretty impatient with Deano sticking to the same lineup, and rightly so. Yeah there’s no good options, but not doing anything might be the worst option.

I mean the only logical options to move Steel would be Ek or Hartman, but Hartman is one bad game away from sitting in the seats again.
