If we dont re-sign or trade Addison then we better go to 5 forwards on the powerplay because Spurgeon cant make a good Powerplay decision to save his life…
at least Boldy got in the goal column tonight…
X2!
Getting rid of Addison would be idiotic!
sadly I dont think we can afford him, Gus has to be prioritized as does Gaudreau…
I’m just saying we dont have any other D who can run the PP if he’s gone…
I think you are selling Spurg short. (No pun intended.) Give him some time on that unit and he can adapt just like every situation he has ever been in. He has overcome every negative thing anyone has ever said about him his entire career.

Russo was just on the fan. Said scratch is directly related to play against Washington. Asked BG if he thinks it hurts his trade value and he said he has had zero calls on Dumba so I doubt it hurts anything.
If anything maybe it will spur some interest. That’s interesting because Russo’s story the other day about Dumba said they were getting calls.
Zero calls my @ss. BG didn’t say in what timeframe. Zeri calls in the last 20 minutes? Last 24 hours? The last week? I’m calling BS, there have CERTAINLY been calls on Dumba in the last month. Everybody and their dog knows he’s on an expiring contract and on the block and there are shitload of bubble/playoff teams who will be looking for a D-man like him.
I wish we’d get some calls on Hartman. I wish we’d get A CALL on Hartman.

Is Tampa’s window closing? they are currently $2 million OVER the cap…
Can’t they just do what they usually do and LTIR some players until the playoffs start?

3ish million for a healthy scratch D man and them wanting a D man in return. Yeah not sure there are a ton of calls to BG’s office.
GMBG isn’t going to tip his hand, he’ll say whatever he wants to stir up conversations in the direction he wants it to go…Trust me, he’s getting calls about Dumba, no doubt.. some have said, then why wasn’t he traded in the past then? the answer is because he had a $6 million caphit, his caphit now is prorated on how many days are left in the NHL regualr season, so it’s a fraction of that $6 million, so yes, playoff teams are going to be interested in a Right Shot defenseman on an expiring contract even if his last name is Dumba. The Wild can also easily eat 50% of his remaining caphit as well as they have like $14 million in deadline capspace they can use… That’s a HUGE selling point….
as discussed numerous times on this thread, GMBG will need to fill the Top4 D void if they trade him, so the trade return will need to be more valuable than just keeping him for the rest of the season and he walks away for nothing…
I’m sure GMBG is also getting calls about Hartman as well, he’s a former 30+ goal scorer on a cheap contract with some term left (He’s the type of guy the contenders trade for at the deadline during cup runs (The Lightning trading for Brendan Hagel is somewhat a comparable I can think of)
Now i’m sure GMBG likes Hartman, but the big issue is what will his next contract ask look like when he becomes a UFA for the first time in his career after next season? His next contract is likely going to be the biggest of his career and where does he realistically fit on this lineup going forward? Does he get paid as a 1C? 2nd or 3rd line wing? Can a younger/cheaper Sami Walker replace him?
So do you sell high on him now with the memory of his 30+ goal season still fresh in everyones mind? Again, it’s all about thinking after next year with Hartman…maybe they kick the can down the road to next years deadline and it’s like the Dumba situation all over again…
I don’t see them wholesale selling.
Dumba could be moved but doubtful you are getting a D man in return.
The more likely scenario is they make a trade for another D man themselves that they think would be a better fit.
In all honesty if you don’t get much for Dumba. Then you may as well keep him. If he is scratched in the playoffs because Faber or Goose are playing better than who cares.
This whole other playoff teams would love him. We are a playoff team we should be lucky to have him then.

I agree…I think they would want to get an earth mover defenseman (Like a Schenn) but they won’t pay the premium price Schenn will command…I also think they’ll take a shot at a scoring winger for Boldy if they can pay for him with a low draft pick that gets better with each round they progress…sucks they paid this years 3rd round pick for D-Lo last year…that was one of GMBG’s decisions he’d likely want back…

This is why he has trade value…
Let me preface by saying I grew up playing hockey in the 70’s / 80’s.
Last night was the first professional game I’ve been to in years. I won’t go back.
Has our society gotten this soft? I think I saw 1 body check the entire game. (not counting Cane’s 37 pushing a player from behind and into the boards getting ejected.)
Back in the day the benches would have been cleared.
Yes, the players have talent beyond anything I knew of when I was younger but come-on. I guy looks at another player and goes to the box.
Offsides?
Kinda like double dribbling in roundball. Never called.
One thing I did like was there really wasn’t any holding whether it be arms, sticks, etc.
That was very refreshing.
Rant Over.

No reason to make your team worse if you are a playoff team. Don’t care if he walks for nothing.
Like WE said BG can only make this move if there is another D man that he can get that he thinks would be a better fit.
Still a ways from deadline when 95 percent of the dealings take place.

I’d argue they’ve actually gone the extreme other direction in terms of calling offsides. Now there are dedicated team staff rewatching EVERY SINGLE ZONE ENTRY to see if there’s offsizes before a goal is scored and if there was, its challenged by the coach and a remote league warroom with huge HD TV’s looks at multiple camera angles (including cameras inside the boards along the blue lines) and super slow motion to see if a skate is a fraction of an inch offsides or not…
and as you said, the game is multiple times faster and quicker vs the 70’s and 80’s game… Gooning is basically out of the league now because teams would rather have a speed guy vs a goon (Reaves and a few others will eventually be phased out of the game) There’s still alot of big hits during todays game, but I think players are a little more “injury aware” now and the obliterating hits are kinda of a thing of the past…but they still happen…
Penalties are called because powerplays = top skilled guys on the ice and more goals scored…The NHL has been trying to appeal to the “hockey is boring to the non hockey fan” due to lack of scoring (just like how Soccer isn’t as popular in the USA, lack of scoring)
Joe Smith reporting that Dumba looks to be out again Saturday… hmmmm
While I’m not to the extreme of EPG wishing the game would go back to bench clearing brawls every other week, I’ve also noticed that the Wild have not hit anything for about two weeks. I think it ties in with the low energy in the last 5 games as well. When they started (and continued) to play well, they got physical, and not we are getting lazy and not being physical and it’s showing in the way the team is getting out played.
I think that lackluster start to play and low physical play tends to coincide with when Shaw was sitting. Would love to see him in the lineup again. He’s done nothing to deserve to sit and those replacing him have done nothing to stay in the lineup.
Deano should start thinking about switching the lines up a bit if the offense/energy doesn’t improve the next few games. I think switching Hartman and Steele around is worth a try to see if Hartman can find last years chemistry again with Kirill and Zuccy… if things don’t work out after 4-5 games, then switch back and roll with the original lines the rest of the season (baring any trades)
We need to get more out of 5-5 play with our first two lines…
Joe a page ago you wanted Hartman scratched.
He’s all we have to work with, they obviously aren’t calling Walker back up so what other options do they have? I’m just saying, with who we have, what other levers could Deano pull? Hartman and Steele are the most logical two…
I still do think Hartman needs a game or two in the press box to clear his head…How has his play recently been any better than Dumba’s? (Don’t mention his horsehoe hailmary assist last night)
I hear ya just giving it to you a bit.
Shaw better get in one of these next two games. I mean it is family weekend.
Joe a page ago you wanted Hartman scratched.
How else are we going to get to 300 pages without this sort of back and forth?
Brock Faber going against a bunch of future high draft pick pro’s tonight (Michigan)
It will be a good preview of what Wild fans can expect from him once the Gophers season is over in a few months…
Man what a hot mess dumpster fire Vancouver has become. How bad is their front office?!? After watching the way they are treating Boudreau who on earth would want to coach must less play there? Fans last night chanting “Bruce there it is” and Bruce getting all emotional behind the bench. Just hard to watch nobody deserves to have to go through that. Twitter link in Russo’s feed if you haven’t already seen it.
In a battle of 2 generational goalie talents, Jesper Wallstedt made 36 saves to beat Yaroslov Askarov 3-2 in OT and give the Iowa Wild its 6th win in a row last night! Rossi had two assists
Wallstedt’s recent stats are ridiculous:
Last 3 games: 1.00 GAA, 96.9 sv%
Last 6 games: 1.33 GAA, 95.5 sv%
Brock Faber going against a bunch of future high draft pick pro’s tonight (Michigan)
Last night’s Gopher game was the first full game I watched Faber play and everything thats been said about him is spot on (he’s a great skater, he’s a great defender, he has a great hockey IQ) but I was surprised with how good his offensive game is! You can tell he’s a bit hesitant sometimes (that’s his defense first mindset taking over) but when he wanted to skate up with the puck and be offensive, he was brilliant! Several end to end rushes, dangles at the blueline and small space passes to open teammates shows he has the offensive game when he wants to…
He reminds me of Brodin quite a bit, but maybe with a sliver of more offensive mindset…
I think GMBG could be interested in getting Jonathan Toews at the deadline. He’d check alot of the need boxes (center, faceoffs, cup pedigree, etc) the Wild have and the rumored asking price is only a 3rd or 2nd round pick.
Now it’s dependent on Toews wanting to play here (he can nix any trade) but the Wild has the capspace advantage over the other teams interested and wouldnt need to pay another team to take on some caphit to get a deal done.
I dont think GMBG is willing to trade his 2023 1st round pick unless it means they reach the Western conf final…
I watch the gophers a lot and Faber’s offensive game has really come on the last 2 years. He’s always been elite at everything else but now is emerging on the offensive side.
