There’s alot of light at the end of the tunnel for this team. Rossi is healthy, Boldy is ready, we’ll get a late teens 1st round pick and possibly another if the Islanders can knock off the Pens. The Kraken will take a player, but also take 100% of their caphit. We finally have an offensively gifted superstar to build around and several other young core players that took big developmental steps this season. All if not most of this team’s warts will be gone next year, i’m excited.

Classic!
Minnesota sports theme song.
I’m listening to KFAN and JG is pointing out mn sports post season wins.
The Wild haven’t won multiple playoff games since 2016, the Vikings haven’t done it since 1987!May 23, 2021 at 12:28 pm #2038389There’s alot of light at the end of the tunnel for this team. I agree. It’s hard to be grateful in the immediate current situation, but this team exceeded expectations all season. The addition of Kaprisov and the emergence of Fiala the last couple seasons gives them something they haven’t had since Gaborik on offense. Are they cup contenders? Probably not, but there’s definite improvement.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22306May 23, 2021 at 1:41 pm #2038406This team will be dramatically different next year. Will they be better? Perhaps but there will be few left from the team under Fenton and that is a good thing. I didn’t expect much going into the season but got a little caught up as they were playing so well in stretches. The off-season will be fun to watch it unfold and see what BG does. We’re not out of this yet but it’s going to be tough to overcome going back on the road.
May 23, 2021 at 2:25 pm #2038420I think it’s over. They needed to win one at home.
As much as I want to rip on the Wild I agree there is at least hope now looking forward with the young talent and new leadership.
May 23, 2021 at 2:31 pm #2038421While I think they are done in this series, its not over till its over…they came back from 1-3 series deficits several times and we’ve seen how good they “can” play…we’ll see tomorrow night…
May 24, 2021 at 9:59 am #2038551McJesus and the Oilers likely get swept tonight (ouch!)
Does anybody know how the draft slots are assigned to the losers of the playoffs rounds? If by regular season points that likely puts the Wild at the end of the list and thus drafting early-mid 20’s right?

I haven’t seen specifics, but I keep reading people on Twitter talk that if the Wild lose tonight they would be somewhere around 17. Not sure where they are getting that from however. I think they are just speculating since the top 16 are in the lottery, but who knows.
May 24, 2021 at 12:23 pm #2038578pretty sure the sort order is calculated by total regular season points then regulation wins for each elimination round, so the Wild would rank AHEAD of St Louis, Edmonton, Montreal, Islanders, Nashville, Winnipeg. Obviously if some of those teams upset their Round 1 matchup, we would be below the loser (except the Oilers). So it looks like if we lose tonight, we could draft between 21-23 depending on if upsets happen or not…If the Penguins get upset by the Islanders their pick would be between 23-25 and actually improve our pick slot by 1….
Finally remember that the Arizona Coyotes forfeit their likely top 11 1st round pick, so everybody drafting AFTER them actually gets a 1 slot better draft pick….
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22306May 24, 2021 at 12:33 pm #2038581Sounds right. I didn’t think they’d have a chance at a teens pick but it kept getting thrown around.
Different topic, Ek. Some analytics fanatic put together these two charts one with Ek NOT with Greenway and Foligno and one those two without Ek. Let’s get that man with Kaprizov and Zucc tonight.

RipjiggenPosts: 11447May 24, 2021 at 1:37 pm #2038604Addison in for Soucy…Bjugstad back in for Rau. Still no Boldy. Makes no sense to me.
May 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm #20386089:30 pm start time tonight? Could they be any more obnoxious? Guess it’s another game I won’t really see.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22306May 24, 2021 at 2:02 pm #2038609Yeah I don’t get the Boldy thing either. Zach isnt bringing anything that Boldy cannot and Boldy can bring a lot that Zach cannot at this stage.

I heard Billy G say on KFAN a few weeks ago that he didnt want to bring Boldy up because he wanted him to develop and not have his confidence hurt.
Apparently Deanno doesnt care about hurting a players confidence when he left Kahkonen in against the Blues when they torched us for like 7 or 9 goals.

I mean whatever with ZP why not play him over Bjugstad. You owe him nothing and will be his last game as a wild and maybe in the NHL.

Same. Although it is in Vegas so its 7:30pm their time. I will try to stay awake for the first period but last Thursday I did that and then missed the rest of it and found out they lost 5-2 after I saw a 2-0 lead.
May 24, 2021 at 2:41 pm #2038620it is what it is with players being in/out this season, ultimately are they players who will have any impact on the game? not likely (except maybe Boldy) It will be fun to watch them play again tonight but i’m not holding my breath for an epic comeback. I’d like to see Kaprizov and Fiala score as they deserve at least 1 this playoffs, Montreal doesn’t seem to have a problem playing Caufield tonight…
Other storylines tonight, Will the Oilers get swept? Will Barkov and the Panthers get the boot? Can the Islanders take the series lead?

Nobody gets this. I have not heard one logical possible explanation for why you’d sign Boldy during the season, send him to Iowa and burn a year of his ELC, and then NOT play him in the playoffs when your team is getting their @sses handed to them. What in the h3ll is the Billy & Deano show waiting for? Saving him for game 7?
McJesus and the Oilers likely get swept tonight (ouch!)
Well, the Oilers can at least console themselves with 2 things. 1) at least they managed to make the playoffs this year, even if it was to crash and burn and 2) they have a pure goal scorer by the name of Leon Drieseital because without him they’d be farkin useless. Too bad they don’t have anybody else who can score goals or play defense.

I could see it over Bjugstad too. No argument there.

So, you are admitting its all your fault then?

I’ll be honest, when it was 2-0 (and subsequently 3-0, but then reversed back to 2-0), I thought I would go to sleep comfortably and wake up to see a win posted the next morning.
Should this series end tonight, I think that game will be the turning point. More specifically, the 2nd period (which I did not see).

Billy G got bent over in negotiations. Boldy’s agent threatened him playing 2 more years at BC to go to free agency and they didn’t call his bluff. That’s the only thing that makes any sense to me. GMs don’t sign drafted college players early to burn an ELC year without them playing NHL games… just doesn’t happen. They clearly have no plans for him to play NHL games this season, I’m over it. Soft move by management.
The right lineup is set for tonight, should be a good game and hopefully they bring it back to the X. Coaching staff panicked after the Mojo injury and that carried into the next game when they made the absolutely ridiculous decision to put Rau with Fiala against the biggest team in the league… he looked like a chew toy out there… Total panic overreaction move. The team is good enough to beat Vegas but not when the coaching staff sets the tone like they did in games 3 and 4.
tswobodaPosts: 8391May 24, 2021 at 4:07 pm #2038639Stick a fork in them, They are done for the year
Good talk, thanks for chiming in.

You know I’m gonna bite on your McDavid sucks drivel every time.
Did you know McDavid had more goals than Leon this year?
Did you know he had more assists too?
Did you know he drew more penalties?
Did you know he took less penalties?
Did you know he had more takeaways?
Did you know he had less turnovers?
Did you know he more hits?
Did you know he had more blocked shots? Please tell me one thing Leon did better than Connor this season. Faceoffs, maybe? Sure.
May 24, 2021 at 5:24 pm #2038671They are 2 elite talents that perfectly compliment each other, if you put them on other teams they’d generate similar stats.
Now the interesting thing is the lack of supporting depth around them. You can argue McDavid’s caphit hurts the team a bit as he’s paid anywhere from $2-$4 million more than the star player on any team not named the Maple Leafs, so that replaces one good 2nd/3rd line winger you could have with instead a rookie or vet on a minimum contract. That’s hardly a substantial loss though vs what McDavid produces…I think it’s more to do with bad drafting (all those years of taking offense with their top pick neglecting the defense) questionable FA signings and never investing in a good goalie…with the speed McDavid plays at he’s always in a vulnerable position and he’s already had an experimental knee surgery under his belt, at some point he’s going to get fed up in Edmonton, in 5 years it will be a bidding war to sell him on your franchises chances of winning a cup.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22306May 24, 2021 at 7:55 pm #2038698Wow, Spencer knight is playing well. Allowed a goal on the first shot but he had no chance. FLA is horrible defensively. They could definitely use a top 4 right hand shot Dman and need less Centers. Just saying.

Ummm, okay.
Score goals in the playoffs.
There. That was too easy.
