Binnington is getting cocky. His confronting Talbot after the second sparked his team for sure. I wonder what he said.
Look for this only to heat up as they continue to play each other tonight and again over the weekend.

He’s always been cocky, he’s had several interactions with other teams this season where he acts like a tough guy but then skates away…Foligno should go hard to the net to shut him up…

Yeah, the dust up with Dubnyk was hilarious. Apparently he got into a couple fights in the AHL. What a punk.

Not a whole lot you can do to another team’s goal tender, even if he’s a punk or he’s trying to start a fire. They’re kind of off limits. Running him only makes the other team angry and you’ll likely get a penalty for it too. You really can’t challenge him to a fight either unless its a specific “goalie fight” which we haven’t seen in how long. Ignoring it is the better alternative. Or scoring a bunch of goals on him.

On the last goal Bronin could have taken the body on Thomas rather than trying to get the puck. Take the body and the play is over.

Bally Sports North for the 1st round for sure, possibly changes to NBCSN the farther they get…

Yeah I’ll bet on Brodin to make the right play 99 percent of the time. Bouncing puck that bounced the wrong way.

Sure hope we don’t meet the Blues in the playoffs. They own us this year.

Looked like Dumba tried to sneak off the ice then realized he was the last guy and there was nobody behind him (um it’s 3-3 dude…) so the Blues best player gets a breakaway and game over….ovey….

Two bad mistakes in back to back games for Dumba. Rough way to end a big comeback.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. They are tough to play against. As great as the Wild looked the first two periods the other night, they were equally bad to start the game last night. Who would have thought putting Rask between Johanson and Fiala would spark a comeback? Didnt have that on my bingo card for sure.
There have to be lineup changes after these last two.

I think that wouldn’t be until the second round, right? Assuming its 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3, and then the winners play. Its looking very unlikely that MN catches Vegas AND Colorado for first in the division and St Louis is too far back of MN to catch them for third.

correct, we’re most likely playing the Avs, just yet to determine if we start at home or on the road…I’m actually fine playing the Avs in the 1st round vs later & letting them get any playoff momentum…. maybe we steal an early game because they are not ready….

The Avs are a little dinged up right now and have been playing poorly too. If the Wild can knock Gruebauer out guess who the backup is and he had one of the laziest efforts on a save that I have seen in a LONG time the other night.

Wild are set at #3 seed and the remainder of the season should be about seeing if/how Bjugstadt fits in over Rask and resting Talbot. Why the heck did he start last night? KK should start every other game until playoffs.

#1 seed will come down to the wire but I think it goes to the Aves. Look for them to bounce back from a recent covid slump and their remaining games are against California teams so they could easily win out. VGK is on a heater that has to end at some point and they face both the Wild and Blues yet this season. This is probably just be wishful thinking as I really don’t want to see the Aves in the first round. Mackinnon is a bad bad man.

To my point earlier, what difference does it make playing the Avs in the 1st or 2nd round? Either way you’re going to likely need to play them….I say take them on in the 1st round before they build up steam…

The Avs goalie situation makes their final 10 or so games (and playoffs for that matter) a mystery…it could hold up and their offense carries them or it could absolutely fail and knock them out…

Not facing the Aves in round 1 gives a chance for them to be knocked off by the Blues or get beat down with injuries. Ya know, the stuff that happens every single season in the playoffs. Seems like a simple concept, no?

are our players immune to 1st round injuries or getting worn down? I’d say the Avs superstars are built alot better physically for playoff hockey then ours are…

I think the odds of Grubauer/Dubnyk getting overwhelmed and choking are pretty high early on vs them gaining confidence the farther they move on in the playoffs…

I’ll try again… After watching the three other playoff teams against the Wild this season, the Aves were BY FAR their worst matchup. Not to mention in last year’s playoffs the Aves were an OT goal away from beating the Stars without an NHL goalie. The ONLY chance to not face the Aves in the playoffs is if they take the #1 seed and lose first round. I mean, it seems logical to me.

I see your point, i’m basing my thinking on the Avs being the team to beat (as in they won’t lose) so the best chance for them to lose is jumping on them early in the 1st round….

Either way it will be fun to watch

Fair enough. I think their best chance to lose is by playing anyone other than the Wild lol.

And yes it should be fun to watch. Or at the very least not as bad as their 2018 playoff series against the Jets… that was straight up embarrassing.

Did we have Foligno-Ek-Greenway together for alot of the games we played them? I want to say No?

If they could shutdown that top line to some degree, we have more scoring depth…

Foligno was hurt for a good number of those games I think.

I understand you guys are ubber fans of the sport. How do you compare where the Wild are in terms of strength when they don’t play outside of their own little group? No Canadian teams, no teams from the east. How can the average fan know if they are better than they were before Covid and if they are by how much? I understand this Russian kid is pretty good and Talbot seems to have made a difference. Over-all is this team a lot better or just seems better because of who they play?

Fair question, but same could be said for every other team in the league. How good is Toronto. Playing all Canadian teams that play little to no defense. In the East they are beating up on two of the worse teams in the league. I mean Buffalo lost almost 20 games in a row.
They are much better than last year.
Russian kid better than pretty good.
    Goaltending
    More depth
    A heavy big second/third line.
Would I consider them cup contenders. No. Are they closer then they were before. Definitely.
If they can get better down the middle of the ice they may have something very soon.
Either way they are a lot more fun to watch and I think there coach allows them to play an offensive game which is nice to see for a change. I am looking forward to seeing them in playoffs.

3-1 leads are not good between these two teams.
