I haven’t seen anything official yet, but my guess is that the NHL does another bubble (in the US this time in a Neutral city/arena) ATER the 2nd round of the playoffs as they must have a scheduled 1 week break after the 2nd round to allow for the 7 day Canada/USA quarantine rule for the Canada Division winner to come down to the states…

I guess they could do another Canada bubble, but with the amount of vaccinated fans in the US a month from now and the opportunity to get some home game revenue in the books, they’ll do it in the US this year…

but with everything we’ve learned over the past year, everything is fluid…

I haven’t seen any kind of plan from the NHL for the Canadian team in the final 4, which makes me think they were banking on the border being open or getting a variance from Canada – but that is clearly not going to happen. If it’s not a bubble then that’s a huge disadvantage for the Jets Canadian team.

I can’t see the NHL saying no to gate revenue for the finals – the league generally doesn’t turn down a chance to make money. So would they do a bubble with fans able to attend games? If there are fans at the games, is it really a bubble?

The owners have been adamant they dont want a bubble for the playoffs. No official decision from the NHL yet.

It’s all about Canada after the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Do they delay the 3rd round series START to account for the mandatory quarantine into US or Canada for the traveling team and then delay again AFTER game 3 or 4 for both of the teams traveling for quarantine?

or rounds 3 and beyond are all played in the US no matter what and perhaps the Canada division team gets a non-playoff neutral arena of their choosing for their home city/rink and get any revenue that they generate?

My guess is that Canada division winner moves to the US after round 2…

Agreed. Most of the US teams have vaccinated staff and players, but Canada is really struggling with their rollout for sure. I read something last week that Saskatchewan had some pretty extreme lockdowns like you couldnt even leave your house or something.

I know we dont need constant reminders of how well Kaprizov is playing, but he is roughly on a 72 point pace for a full 82 game season.
He’s going to likely pass Gaborik goal total in far fewer games. Already past him in points.

Didn’t the Canucks finally start playing again the other day? They hadn’t played since March 24 because of an outbreak. Rumor is that it was the P1 strain from Brazil.

First game back was yesterday yes. The way many of the players were talking prior to coming back it sounded like they just wanted to fold up the season. Its going to be very tough to make up all those games.

I think he’s due for a goal explosion….I bet he ties and passes Gabby tonight…

Thinking back to Gabby’s rookie year though, he was 18 years old playing with arguably the WORST offensive talent ever assembled by an expansion franchise…his 18 goals deserve alot of credit…

Gaborik was certainly amazing. Its easy to forget because it was so long ago. If only his groin wasnt made of glass he would have even produced at a higher clip.
Too bad Zuccarello was out for so many games early on they could have a lot more points between them.
I just wonder if we had a legit center with them how much better they would be. Rask has been trash lately and that is putting it mildly.

Here you go. Seems like fairly good news.

Austria’s ice hockey hope Marco Rossi spoke in detail for the first time on Sunday about the consequences of his corona illness. The man from Vorarlberg was infected with Covid-19 in November, just a month after he was selected ninth by the Minnesota Wild in the NHL draft. Months later he still felt enormous fatigue, the 19-year-old described in the ORF program “Sport am Sonntag”.

“Right now my only wish is that I get 100 percent healthy,” said Rossi. At first he only felt slight back pain after the infection, he returned to Switzerland for the ZSC Lions from Zurich on the ice. “The fact that I was so tired on a long distance has often made me think.” The climax was reached at the U20 World Cup around the turn of the year in Canada. “I was really exhausted, I just couldn’t go on the ice anymore.” He thought of jet lag or other problems. “But Corona, I never had that thought.”

The shock at the start of the NHL
Rossi flew to his team in Minnesota, where he was subjected to intensive testing. The planned NHL debut did not work out for the time being. The validity of his three-year contract in the North American professional league was only postponed by one year. “My goal is to play next season,” said Rossi. “I’m a person who has always been positive. The goal is to start training in mid-May. Then we’ll see.”

The consequences of the illness gave him a “completely new perspective”, explained the teenager, who had returned to his family in Vorarlberg in the winter after numerous medical tests. “It was a very difficult situation for my wife and me,” said his father Michael Rossi on ORF. Before going to bed, his son would have said to him: “Dad, stay there, I’m afraid my heart will stop beating.”

He refrained from assigning blame, but Michael Rossi hopes that the learning effect “will have to be more careful with competitive sports and corona in the future”. He appealed to parents and associations: “I would like that there would be more attention when someone is tired. You often do not think that there are such consequences from Corona.” The prevailing opinion is that after ten days one is healthy. “But you’re just immune.”

    No long-term consequences to fear
According to the Rossis’ wishes, the start towards the comeback should take place in the coming days at the Vorarlberg Olympic base. Father and son hope for the support of the country. “There is also a huge chance that we will research it a little better,” said Michael Rossi. His son now looks “healthy as a pumper” again. “The blood values are good, the EKG looks good. We don’t need to be afraid.” There will be no long-term consequences.

Rossi junior confirmed this. At the moment, he is mainly doing mobilization exercises. “At the moment I’m really fine again,” said the center, who has caused a sensation in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in Canada over the past few years. At the beginning after his return to Austria it was “really very bad”. “Maybe I could go for a walk there. But by the time I went up the stairs I was tired again.

Foligno Greenway Ek line does it again. Foligno just gets better and better. He’s really turned into a heckuva player. Remember when we were all saying we resigned him for too much?

Guy’s having a hell of a season. I was one saying his contract was about $1m too much… definitely not the case if he keeps playing like this.

Puck’s in the corner and Johansson drops Goligoski, Larsson drops Fiala, Chychryn wipes out, and literally none of them touch the puck… no penalties lol. Fun game to watch tonight, usually Coyote games are really slow and stale.

I think if you put a decent center on that line with speed and you’d see a huge increase in production…it’s basically 4on5 when that line is on the ice as the opposing team pays zero attention to Rask. Next season should be alot of fun to watch as this team will get so much faster and offensively creative with an influx of young talent in Rossi, Boldy and hopefully pickup a good center option via trade…

Bjugstad nearing a return. Who sits? Bjugstad is my guess. IDK how you sit Sturm he’s been great since moving to center.
    Hohum more PPGs…

The GREEF line is unreal. This may not count but the play by Foligno to Greenway was great.

That line is the best 3rd line in the NHL, but after Ek’s new deal this offseason and Greenway’s the year after it will also likely be the most expensive…if we keep our 4th line with minimum contracts you can afford an expensive 3rd line like that, but our current 4th line has a $13+ million cap hit which is just atrocious…no place else for Parise to play the next 4 years too…
