Dutch stick to your baseball thread. moon It’s been really annoying not to be able to quote other post. It seams to work if I just write instead of referring to previous post.

That might have been the prettiest PP goal I’ve seen them score this year. Kaprizov really filling it up lately.

Bonino is a playoff character guy who kills penalties and can usually win draws…

A veteran loaded cup contender like the Capitals or Bruins could throw a 3rd rounder for him because he’s the type of player they need for a run…

    We’ll see next week…

So now it went from 2-3 players to just Bonino. lol Just messing. I think the wild stand pat. Why because they can. They don’t need more picks in this draft. They shed the salary next year without saying man I can’t believe we let that guy walk for nothing. They are in the playoffs and no not what we would think as a cup contender but hell been a weird year and I think it will be a weird playoff as well.
I guess we will find out in less than a week.

This is quite the statement game to the entire league! They look like a different team tonight vs the last 2-3 weeks

What a game! I will admit, the second period had me very worried. The Avs are so explosive.
Fiala has been an absolute beast the last several games. KK97 has as well.
Gruebauer was getting flustered and they are going to need a capable backup. His work load is far too much for the condensed schedule.

the first trade hat dropped last night with the Islanders scooping up BOTH Palmeiri and Zajac! This obviously reduces the available impactful player pool to choose from which in turn drives up the prices…

And also eliminates any hope we had of shipping Parise back to join Lou. Which was slim at best anyway, but still I had a glimmer of hope.

his play (or lack there of) has likely killed any hope for anybody trading for him because they can already see the decline in skill and he has 4 more years at a $7.5 caphit…unfortunately we’re stuck with him… and his recent Star Trib article shows the attitude he’s carrying… this will be an ugly 4+ years… at least Suter is being a good teammate and still relevant on the ice.

Let’s hope all our Christmas presents didn’t come at once last night, but IMO that’s a lot more like what the Wild should be doing to the Avs. That’s the way the Wild SHOULD be playing. It seems like they were scared of the Avs before, I don’t know if they bought into the over-hype or what, but there’s no reason to be running scared of the Avs.

First off, Kudos to Deano for getting a line combo with Greenway and Ek matched up to the MacKinnon/Landeskog/Rantannen line. Even better to get Foligno back in there. Minimizing the impact and zone time of this top-line left the Avs lack of depth totally exposed and the door was wide open for the rest of the team to take advantage. And they did.

Grubauer is getting ridden into the ground and is weak on the high glove side, nice to see the Wild taking advantage and putting pucks on the net.

Kaprisov. His ability to skate in the middle of 3 defenders and cleanly keep the puck away from all of them for a shot is just outrageous. Even 1 on 1, he just turns his back and that quick stop sees the defender flying off and scrambling to get back in position. Comparisons to Gaborik aren’t really a comparison, the Wild have never had anything like this before.

And good morning Kevin Fiala. Let’s hope he’s got it firing on all 8 cylinders for the rest of the season now. The timing would be ideal.

Did anybody else think that the Avs should get an Oscar for over-acted falls taken last night? It seemed like every collision or bump was accompanied by hands in the air and then an extra 2-3 seconds spent spread eagle sprawled on the ice to really, really, really try to sell it. Were they really working it last night or was I seeing things?

Deadline trades. I dunno. It doesn’t seem like there’s that much buying available based on our constraints and the high probability that we’ll be a playoff team that is not really in need of draft picks.

Question: After quarantine and a few Iowa games, do we see Boldy up with the big club?

I 100% expect to see Sackik pick up a goalie before the deadline after this two game stretch from Grubauer. It was like he completely forgot how to use his glove hand last night… Just nice to see the guy is actually human, and the heavy workload is finally catching up with him.

Man that Wild PP1 sure is a juggernaut with Rask and Bonino running the show jester

I just read that article and I hope he uses being on the 4th line as a fuel to the fire to pick up his game. I dont think he will but I sure hope he doesnt become a cancer on the team with being upset on how his role has changed and being on the 4th line. As said above he just has no trade value right now. Also very interesting on his covid situation while he was out. Was this forced to claim he had a positive test to get him to sit out?

Question: After quarantine and a few Iowa games, do we see Boldy up with the big club?

With everyone healthy, I just don’t see where he fits. I think it takes injuries and/or him tearing it up a few games in Iowa.

The team is already busting at the seams with wings:
    Kap
    Fiala
    Zucc
    Johansson
    Foligno
    Greenway
    Parise
    Bjugstad
    Sturm

This also leaves out Rau and Johnson who have been playing lately, but I don’t see them as regulars down the stretch. Assuming none of them move to center and Rask doesn’t get waived, that means in order for Boldy to play 2 out of Bjugstad/Parise/Sturm would have to sit. Ek’s line is getting used as a shutdown line more and more so I doubt they want/trust Boldy to start there. Would they start him on the 4th line with Bonino and Parise/Bjugstad? Maybe.

In a perfect world Johansson magically turns into the #1C that Guerin promised and plays between KK/Zucc, Rask gets waived to the taxi squad (cap space), and Boldy is good enough to play on the Hartman/Fiala line and also replace Rask on PP1. I don’t see that happening, but man that would be sweet if it worked out.

Finally got through the paywall the read the Parise STrib article, and I guess I’m not seeing the same negative attitude that others are.

Parise: “At that point, you just try to make the most of what you’re getting and when you are called upon to go out there, try to make an impact in any way that you can.”

“You don’t really have a choice but to accept it,” said Parise, who has led the Wild in goals for five seasons since signing a 13-year, $98 million contract in 2012. “You just accept what you’re given and do your best when you are out there. Most importantly, too, is [to] practice the right way and work on my game as much as I can so if there is an opportunity to get on the power play, or there is an opportunity to get out there more, I’m ready to go.”

So basically saying he wants more opportunity and will be ready if he gets it. Yes the cliché hockey guy answer is “I’ll do anything to help the team win some hockey games”, but people always complain about NHL players giving the same BS canned answers. What NHL player doesn’t want more ice time and PP time?? Especially someone who has been a go to scorer on every team he’s ever played on. Just the other day, Sturm said in an interview he was pissed after being scratched – is he going to be a cancer now too?

I was saying if he is fed up and shows it on the bench or in the locker room I hope he doesnt become a cancer. Do I think he will no but you never know when a guy goes from being the “guy” to know not the “guy” on the team.

I made it to both games this week with my high school son. It was a blast for both of us…even with the loss on Monday.

Monday the fake crowd noise was.so obnoxious. They must have really gotten bad feedback on that, because it was not noticeable last night.

They are playing him Jump Around after goals. It’s horrid. No energy. They need to bring back the Goal Chant. It is Wild tradition. Or bring back Let’s go Crazy. That was better even. I hope they get that message.

You may have missed my follow up. No I would not want to trade for him. I was more or less giving a smart arse answer. lol
