Flyers fans are really blasting Fletcher. I haven’t paid close attention to what’s gone on there, but they should be doing better than they have been for sure. Hart and Elliott have really been struggling and Hart is now a healthy scratch. This is why goalies at the NHL level, or really any level need time to develop. They can be very fragile and it appears to be getting to him.

They have completely forgot how to play defense and this has caused their goalies to be hang out to dry and as you mentioned, a young goalie’s confidence is a very fragile thing…Ghost is a pretty popular player in Philly, so if they lose him for nothing on waivers, I think you’ll start hearing more calls for Fletcher’s job…

Russo was filling in for Barreiro on kfan today. Lots of great guests and had BG on at the end. BG said he spent most of the day on the phone and Russo asks so this means I should be getting ready to break that Boldy signing? BG laughs and says geez Mike. Lol. Anyways sources are saying the deal is imminent and he would be burning first year. Also asked about Rossi and BG said he’s doing very well and things are looking very good and that he may come over at some point.

So once Foligno and Parise come back, who’s out? The taxi squad floater and Bjugstad most likely right? Then who’s out to get a spot for Boldy to eventually move into after a brief Iowa stint? Putting him on the 4th line is a waste, does he kick Parise to the 4th line then?

    Ouch…

If all this comes to fruition with no other injuries. You are moving on from Bonino or Johansson either way at end of year so you try and move one or one is watching from the press box.
Nothing wrong with having him play with Bonino and Sturm on 4th line to start.

Dumba+R1 for Lundell? What happened to the known commodity should always bring back the extra pick a la the Granlund for Fiala trade that you still poo-poo

I never poo-pooed the trade, I said Fenton played the trade badly. Go back and read the reports from that trade. The whole league was wondering what else the Wild got and broad consensus was we should have gotten more. Hindsight is 20/20.

if things pan out as they have sofar this season, our 2 x 1st round picks will likely be in the 18-31 range in a weaker draft so perhaps letting one go isn’t that bad of a deal…

I’d do that deal. It moves a player we need to move and gives us an asset that can’t be taken in the xpac. Unlikely we get a better option in a weak draft with this low of an R1 pick and we get a player much closer to league ready.

Interesting Athletic story today about Seattle Kraken GM Ron Francis already getting calls from GM’s regarding protecting players from the xpac draft. Francis is reportedly telling them it will cost a 1st round pick and a prospect for STARTERS!

I hope/think every GM will then tell him to pound sand and just accept they are losing a player…

Unfairly, Francis will be judged against the absolute fleecing the Golden Knights GM got away with…

another aspect of Boldy’s game and what might get him a spot on the Wild sooner is that he’s really good at taking faceoffs. He would constantly take draws at BC and at the WJC even though he plays wing. It will be interesting to see if that continues in the NHL where its harder to switch back to wing after taking the draw due to defensive coverage & breakout responsibilities.

Isn’t this a bit overplayed though? I mean it’s a wing taking the faceoff about what half the time anyway because the center gets tossed from the dot for holding his mouth wrong before the puck drop.

How much worse could it be to just let Boldy take faceoff rather than waiting for the centerman to get tossed and then let Boldy take the face off?

It has been reported for a long time now that none of the GMs who made a deal with Vegas felt like they came out ahead, so the Butt Cracken can “demand” anything they want, teams are going to go with the “take one an shove it” approach.

You are right, though. The Butt Cracken are going to be expected to be Playoff Team in a Box 2.0 and it ain’t going to work that way for them would be my prediction.

You don’t see it very much in the NHL is all i’m saying, but yes, some centers seem to get kicked out all the time (Rask is comical) so the Wings do step in….

Rask has fallen off a cliff again. One of the main reasons that line is struggling right now.

They really need to change him out…try something crazy like Sturm or Mayhew, somebody who can skate at least…

BG just commented on the Boldy presser that he sees him starting at wing, but could potentially move to Center depending on his development. Asked if he would get called up to the NHL this year? “That’s up to him”.

I like Mayhew because he plays hard and has a little speed but I don’t think he has the skill to play with those guys. Do they have ANY prospect in Iowa that has solid hands or considered a skill player they could bring up in the near future other than Boldy? Seems like every player we call up is a hard worker but doesn’t have much offensive skill.

I believe the main guy at Center would be Khovanov, but he is playing in Russia. Not even playing with the KHL but seems to be playing well. Otherwise they dont have Centers who are near ready besides hopefully Rossi. None this year anyway.
Khustinidinov should be a heckuva player too, but a ways away.
Beckman is a forward that has some skill, but not sure when he could be available.

This team’s lack of centers is going to keep rearing it’s ugly head all season. So who can play between Kaprizov and Zuccs right now:
    Rask – bad
EEK – should be glued to Greenway
Hartman – clicking with Fiala and MoJo
Bonino – maybe?? we all know he belongs in the bottom 6
Sturm – maybe?? big jump and he’s been playing wing
Bjugie – I like this option best
    Luke Johnson – AHLer/Taxi squad
    Rau – AHLer/Taxi squad
Mayhew – AHLer/Taxi squad and he plays wing

    Who am I missing?

There’s no good answer on the existing team or down in Iowa. Sturm played center in college and Mayhew is likely the most skilled player in Iowa…both can skate…

Perhaps GMBG makes a “hockey trade” soon and finds somebody that can fill the gap this season?

The Wild look asleep tonight, that sounds like a good idea, stupid west coast late games… hopefully they score while I sleep…

This is ugly. Our D has been really bad lately. Suter caught sleeping again on the first goal. I wish he wouldn’t coast all game long and actually play hard once in awhile. He doesn’t have to play 30 minutes a game anymore so play with some pace for once.

When are the Wild and the rest of the league and fans going to concede that Erickson Ek is 1st line center material and should be an annual Richard trophy contender for the rest of his career! He has the hands of Kane, the speed of Bure and the hockey sense of Gretzky! I don’t understand why I can’t get a single Wild fan to join me in praising the all mighty Erickson Ek!

All seriousness- what’s with the ice in the Sharkpit? Commentators wouldn’t shut up about how bad it is. If it’s that bad why doesn’t the NHL make them do something about it?

The team needs a center, but am glad BG doesn’t seem interested in mortgaging the future for a center right now. Not a RS fan but was happy to see him get into it a little trying to keep Kane off KK. KK has got some fight in him, glad to see even when the team’s having a horrible game he keeps fighting and playing. He spends way to much time trying to help in our end and nice to see his willingness to do it, but he gets caught way to deep in our end a lot trying to help out the defense. The face off percentages are killing the team always chasing the puck vs playing the puck. But this isn’t a team I’d mortgage the future on for now. Keep building with what they have and let another team be the desperate one willing to give up the farm. That ice is awful to watch a game on, like painfully awful.

As much as us fans want to think we have a good chance at the cup this year, GMBG knows realistically we dont and wont give away assets for rentals. IF he can find a team thats desperate for something we have and is willing to give up a good center prospect I think he jumps on it… but otherwise if he can get good prospects or picks, he’ll do it. My guess is he’s hoping to get a good offer for Johansson, Bonino or Cole and it allows him to bring Boldy up…

They start their run next season…

I wouldn’t mind keeping Cole honestly. I think he really solidified our D especially with how bad Soucy has been.

Johansson is playing better and might get something in return now.

Hard to sign Cole when you have Addison ready next year. If signed it would need to be at the Vets minimum for 1-2 years max, not sure Cole would accept that…

Maybe we’d up the offer if Soucy and Dumba are gone by the draft, but in the end he’s an aging 3rd pair D, those guys are a dime a dozen…
