Don’t quote me on this Grouse, but I thought I read somewhere that he and his wife are separated or possibly divorced. Not sure where he or his family are, but I know he just recently said he considers MN home so he may still live here.

Koivu is a celebrity in Finland, it’s where he’s lived in the offseason and he’ll move back there for sure. I’m guessing he’ll play in Liiga for a couple years.

Brodin and Talbot added to the COVID protocol list. The Wild won’t even be able to field a full team.

Crazy! Rask came off the list at least so I’m guessing his may have been false positive?

if I remember right they need like 3 consecutive negative tests to come off the list.

Laine saga continuing. Reports on nhl network just now saying he mouthed off to an assistant on the bench prior to the benching. His days are numbered if he doesn’t change his ways.

I believe that’s right and he possibly may have been put on the list without a positive test to begin with as a precaution.

Just a quick search confirms this, unfortunate.

His days may be numbered in Columbus which I am sure he is fine with, but his days in the NHL are not. 40 goal scorers don’t fall off trees. He will get paid come this off season.

Or had a very mild case that he kicked and started testing negative. Either way it doesn’t really matter. Going to be a mess in the NHL come the end of the season.

Marat K had a freak shoulder injury in his game today and is out a minimum 4 months…I know this year is a waste and he’s at best 3 years away from seriously contending for a Wild spot, but my god can we not have nice things?

and it looks like all non-covid players can get back on the ice tomorrow, Russo hinted that Folgino and Johansson are likely back as well… so progress I guess…

It’s getting boring watching other teams play every night, although Tuukka Rask skating to the bench in a tie game last night was pretty funny..

Yeah that Marat injury did not look good. Knew right away when I saw it this morning that it was going to be a shoulder collar bone issue. Dang, I am with ya, no we cannot have nice things.

Sounds like Wild hockey is back on Tuesday night in LA! Dumba was actually skating today at practice as was Zucarello! Tuesday’s team will still most likely have alot of Taxi players, but they called up Addison so we’ll get to see him play which will be fun!

I’d guess they get some of the postponed games rescheduled during the 2/21-2/25 schedule break, so it will be hockey on almost every night…

That’s only a 4 days away and feels like players were still being put on the list a couple days ago. We’re going to see a lot of new faces with the Wild, any ideas on what line combos we’ll see or who is even going to be available?

Dumba said he was ready to go for Tuesday’s game. Whether he plays or not who knows but what a lucky break. I thought for sure he tore an acl or something of that magnitude.

I agree! He even said he heard something pop, THAT is never a good thing. Thank goodness!

Not sure I’d call Dumba “lucky” to get injured in a freak play like that. I’d be more apt to call him unlucky, but I see where you guys are coming from. I thought ankle sprain right away as knees are almost always non-contact in hockey. Maybe the ankle sprain is better than a knee, but it could be a bigger deal than people think. Ankles sprains are “tweaked” or reinjured all the time, it’s the worst… it’ll feel 100% back to full strength, then you catch one little edge or hook your toe on something and it feels like you’re right back to the day it got injured. So yeah Dumba can play now but if he looks like something is off or a step slow the rest of the season, don’t be surprised. Niederrieter fought an ankle sprain his last full season in MN and he looked terrible that year.

Wild back in action tomorrow in LA. Will be interesting to see the lineup. Quite a few guys are coming off the COVID list, but still I think 6 on it. Spurgeon is still hurt, but they say he will travel with the team. Zuccarello coming back will be cool to see if he is better than last year. I dont expect him to be at his best for a while.
As expected with missing what 6 games the Wild have fallen in the standings, but have 3 and 4 games in hand with those above them and only 3 pts back of 4th. They Avs played last night, their first after their pause.
Golden Knights and Avs are really the cream of the crop in the Division this year. Blues are there too, but I think its going to come down to Avs and Vegas in the end.

This is absolutely correct! Back in my playing days I had a really bad high ankle sprain (I heard or more likely felt the “pop” Dumba talked about). It took me 2-3 weeks to feel back to normal and then I caught an edge in practice and went right back to day 0 again…its tough, but if he can get through the next 7-10 days without re-injury, those ligaments and muscles should build back their strength and flexibility and his odds are good to finish the season without setbacks…

So you’d rather have had him tear his ACL and be out all year?

That’s all I meant by it being a lucky break. coffee

Just caught the end of line combos on kfan for practice. 1st and 2nd are….

    Ek between Fiala and Parise
    Johansson between KK and Greenway.

    Didn’t catch the rest.

No. I was just offering a different perspective. The play that injured Dumba was rare – like a freak accident. So I consider him unlucky to be injured. Wild fans seem elated Dumba has a sprained ankle, and I find that odd. Watching the game I thought sprained ankle right away and never put serious thought towards a major knee injury since ACL tears and other knee injuries in hockey are almost ALWAYS non contact. Maybe that’s why I’m looking at this differently than other fans. Like I said, just a different perspective.

Wild are sitting at 4th in my world. It took a pandemic for this to happen, but NHL.com FINALLY added a points percentage column to their standings page. This has drove me nuts over the years, so thank you covid doah

Any idea on defense? At one point every D except Suter was on the list, but I think that’s changed now. Could porn star Addison get his NHL debut?

I guess I was too slow.

Forwards look fine, but those D pairings… OH BOY!! Talbot’s on the list too, right? KK34 could be real busy.

Yeah, Talbot is still on the list. They brought up Baribeau from Iowa, so they have KK34, Hammond and Baribeau.

They reported that if guys on the Covid list get cleared while the team is on the roadtrip they will take a private jet and join them.

The theatrics and planning for this season have to be a nightmare for equipment guys.
