I always find it funny when NHL guys play hockey outside of their team in the offseason and they all wear their full team gear and colors…it’s like yeah we already know who the F you play for, you don’t need to let everyone know…I can see a reason to wear new breezers or gloves to break them in a bit, but socks, jerseys and helmets? lol, maybe there’s some league mandate I dont know about? It like beer leaguers who still wear their High School/College jerseys or helmets with the team logo stickers…who the F cares! lol
So they should just get their own separate all black gear to skate in the off season. Why wouldn’t they wear their team equipment in the off season.
Agree on the beer league guys though.
I’m basing this on the Beyond the Ice Wild TV segments and other shows where they show players skating in the offseason and all of the pros seems to wear ALL of their gear with practice jerseys and all just for doing drills on the ice…Why would you WANT to wear your hockey socks vs just some comfortable sweatpants holding up your shin guards? I fondly remember summer open hockey sessions as a kid with Pro’s showing up and wearing their full team colors and gear, just seemed strange….Now I’m thinking maybe it’s an insurance clause in case of injury?
