Its a tribute to the first two MN Teams from like the 30’s. I dont get wound up about it highlighting two cities versus the state, but ditch those gaudy elbow patches and that top stripe. The NHL designs these along with Addidas, so its not the Wild’s fault.

IDK, it seems a little odd to highlight 2 cities on the jersey of the self proclaimed “STATE of Hockey”.
And the official press release said it’s paying tribute to the teams that made Minnesota the state of hockey. I’m pretty sure being a youth, high school, and college hockey hot bed is what makes MN the state of hockey… not 2 “pro” teams from the 30s.
I think the jerseys are fine and really don’t care much because we’ll only see them 2 or 3 times. But all the history noted behind them just seems like it missed the mark.
Shoulda just made Herb Brooks’s face the logo and called it a win.

Does anything the NHL ever make sense? The Wild social media was quick to point out they had no hand in it. I am sure the majority of the people working for the NHL couldnt even name another town IN Minnesota and some of them probably thought Twin Cities was the name of the town instead of Minneapolis and St Paul. They are that dense.
I think the sweaters are ugly but I’m still just waiting on that KK news rather than the sweaters.
Jesper Wallstedt is 5-0 with a 1.00 gaa and 2 shutouts in preseason Swedish Elite League games… nice to have potentially locked up our starting goalie of the future this summer….
Wallstedt is an absolute steal. He will be our future #1 goalie and it won’t be too far in the future. I love kaakos game but he’s another level.
I hope Evason gives Kaako a fair amount of games to play in this year and not give Talbot the full load. They made that mistake with Dubnyk. Kaako will be very motivated now knowing Wallstedt is in the wings. Evason hung Kaako out to dry in a couple games last season and it affected his confidence.

He should never have left him in that Blues game after 2 periods. After that he was wrecked. He was strong won what 10 or 11 straight at one point.

I think some of that is overblown, between periods you know the coaches talked to him and said the Team defense sucks tonight but we want to rest Cam so we’re obviously keeping you in the game, just get through it without getting injured and don’t worry about the goals allowed…Blowout games happen every year and likely have happened many many times in a goalies career, they know when it’s just a wasted game and the only goal is to get through it uninjured and move on to the next game…

True, they happen, but he was never the same after that. He was so sharp in that stretch up to that point when we needed him. Goalies are weird man. My brother was a very good HS goalie and once their psyche is broken they fight it big time.
camp starts in 15 days, Kirill really needs to get this damn contract signed soon! He’ll need the extra time to allow for getting a Work visa, completing covid quarantine and getting an NHL approved vaccine shot, etc, etc… time is running out before he could potentially miss some camp time…
It’s really surprising stuff can drag out for so long when you’re the teams ONLY unsigned player and thus their only focus (after the framework has basically been agreed upon – per Russo) UNLESS there’s some bad blood/hanging up of phones on each other going on?!? I mean seriously, how do they not iron out the final details in one or two conference/zoom calls between the agent and the team’s cap guys???
I really want to see a documentary made on how a Pro sports contract happens start to finish…to my knowledge, it’s an unknown world that has never really had the curtain pulled back on yet? I believe the HBO NFL Documentary Hard Knocks has shown some of how the negotiations happen, but I’d like to see everything….
That would be interesting for sure to see a documentary on that. Russo had a photo just yesterday with Ben Hankinson and Chris McAlpine who are both agents. Perhaps working on a story?
I have this gut feeling that what the hangup is now with Kaprizov is the incentives. I dont think Russo mentioned it but I have to believe that is it. You know there are going to be incentives in there and BG has to be very dang careful with those because if he explodes it could be costly. I dont recall how they all come into play, but I believe if it puts you over the Cap, then Cap space is taken away the following year.

Kirill can’t get Performance bonuses anymore. I think those are only for Entry level contracts and players 35+ years old on a 1 year deal? (and some other previously injured type of player) I think they can only negotiate how much actual $ he gets each year of his deal and that impacts how much he would pay into escrow each year of his deal (some years the % is more than others) That’s why I think they should be able to knock out those details pretty quickly…Signing bonus is part of the overall deal and has no impact on the aav caphit, it just impacts Leopold’s checkbook more quickly or not…
Just to clarify, each team gets a set amount of the capspace (like 7%) as a performance bonus cushion and only get penalized on next years capspace anything that goes over that cushion, I believe Kirill’s bonuses last year (his entry level contract) got them really close to the max, but they didn’t go over…

I wasnt aware of that so I had to check CapFriendly and yep must meet one of these criteria:
1. The player is on an entry-level contract.
2. The player has signed a one-year contract and is over 35 years old.
3. The player has signed a one-year contract after returning from a long-term injury (has played 400 or more games, and spent 100 or more days on the Injured Reserve in the last year of their most recent contract).
If you were asking fans around the time of the Calder running, they all probably thought he was over 35 with the way they talked.
Haven’t you guys watch the show ballers. I think negotiations go just like that.
I would not worry to much about all the things KK has to get done. I am sure he has a work Visa. Who knows if he has taken the shot yet. Yes the time is ticking

I guess he got the Russian “Sputnik” vaccine shot last year, but its not approved by the WHO/NHL…
He needs an employment contract to get the Work Visa and I thought a week’s quarantine was needed when traveling from overseas and unvaccinated (but maybe thats changed now?)
and I’m sure Ballers wasn’t too far off in how some aspects go
Isn’t he under contract still to get that Visa. Either way time is a ticking. Not sure on who has to quarantine anymore when they travel in to US. Maybe just make a quick stop in Kabul and he would be good. I kid don’t want this thread to go that way.
Sometimes it takes a deadline to make things move.
I heard KK knows people in high places and can get his Visa ASAP after he greases some high level Russian palms I’m sure. Maybe that’s his hold up. He wants the Wild to pay the Russian mafia to pave his way here and doesn’t want it to come out of his pocket.
Either way the Wild and Blues take the ice the 25th just 17 days away. With or without KK. Right now I’d say it’s a toss up which it will be.
Parise has been seen the last two days skating in full Islander gear so as what was expected he will be an Islander. Certainly no shock, but I have to wonder how they make it work cap wise.

Islanders have plenty of cap space for Parise. They’re over the cap right now but that’s including Johnny Boychuk’s $6m that will go on LTIR when the season starts. They also show 14 forwards (not including Parise) so that’s another $2m of their cap when 2 guys get waived.
I always find it funny when NHL guys play hockey outside of their team in the offseason and they all wear their full team gear and colors…it’s like yeah we already know who the F you play for, you don’t need to let everyone know…I can see a reason to wear new breezers or gloves to break them in a bit, but socks, jerseys and helmets? lol, maybe there’s some league mandate I dont know about?
It like beer leaguers who still wear their High School/College jerseys or helmets with the team logo stickers…who the F cares! lol

That’s right! I forgot about Boychuk. People were freaking out in Vancouver when they looked them up on CapFriendly thinking someone would offersheet Petterson because the site shows so little cap space, but similar deal they have too many players to actually make the roster so their effective cap will be lower than what the site says.

How do you feel about grown adults wearing jerseys to sporting events? LOL

No problem with that at all…although in today’s leagues, I’d never put a players last name on a jersey with how much player movement that takes place…

So they should just get their own separate all black gear to skate in the off season. Why wouldn’t they wear their team equipment in the off season.
Agree on the beer league guys though.

I agree with that. My son was a HUGE Niederreiter fan and wouldnt you know it after we get him an official jersey he gets traded LOL

How about Men’s league goal cellies?? Big fan of those personally.
