I sure wish the kid would grow another 3-4 inches…I see alot of Nicklas Backstrom in his game…that’s a damn good thing!

it would be nice if he was a bit taller but he is a damn good skater and nifty playmaker.

Its says CKA in the graphic, but I believe its actually SKA from St Petersburg which is KHL.

He just undressed a D man with 2 swift moves and barely missed the net.

He’s now gotten a goal and 2 assists. He is on fire.

Those are their KHL jerseys in the clips. Their MHL jerseys have 1946 on them and the VHL jerseys have HEBA on them.

I think it’s KHL preseason games, right?

Its the 2021 Nikolai Puchkov Memorial Tournament. Which will take place between the 24th and 29th of August at the Saint Petersburg Ice Palace.

I was reading comments from some that were watching yesterday questioning why Rossi was playing so far down the lineup. He seems to be skating fine and is constantly around the puck. Probably just due to not having any game action in so long, but you are right Joe that team is terrible. Many college teams would likely beat them.

Novak has scored twice today for CZE in the Four Nations tourney. Playing 1st line RW. Looked like a right handed Parise in front of the net for his first goal. Tipped a shot from the point, got the rebound, got the second rebound and reached around the goalie to backhand it in.

Wild add more D Jordie Benn signed one year at $900,000.

Good 7th defenseman depth if guys start to get hurt throughout the season, he’s a total sandpaper guy…

Kinda throws a shake up into the expected D core. They now have 7 D on 1 way contracts… and none of them are Calen Addison. So for Addison to earn a regular NHL spot they need to carry 8 D or waive one of Merril/Benn. If they weren’t willing to give Mennel a big AHL salary, will they be willing to pay one of those guys to play in the AHL? Just hope Addison doesn’t get stuck in Iowa due to contract status.

Is Addison NHL full time ready. As in does he even have a current role on the NHL club that will show off his best assists. Currently I don’t see him on a PP1 or maybe not even a PP2. Can the wild really have a top 4/5 with that size?
I to find it odd that they have 7d on one way contracts. I guess we will see if he can win a spot this year. Not like they can’t afford to cut one of the bottom 6/7 guys.

The contract Benn signed was a full NHL contract so if he goes to Iowa he still gets the 900K. I’m guessing he’s in the press box until someone gets hurt or if Addison doesn’t make the cut this year.

I like Benn’s size and grit but I just don’t really understand it otherwise. It may be too much to expect Addison to play an entire NHL season and this is good insurance I guess. There most definitely will be injuries so need capable bodies.

So I get the revenge aspect of Carolina putting an offer sheet on Montreal’s RFA Kotaniemey for the offer sheet they put on Sebastian Aho a few years ago… the $20 signing bonus was a nice touch!

    BUT

Carolina is going to pay him $6 million for 1 year and give Montreal a 1st and 3rd round draft picks if they dont match the offer (which would put them over the cap) all for a 3rd line wing!!!

If i’m Montreal I absolutely dont match and take the 1st and 3rd round draft picks and send Carolina a $20 bottle of wine and a jokes on you thank you card!

I love when offer sheets happen. I wish it happened more but this is a dumb deal for Carolina.

The amount of pettiness in this offer sheet is unprecedented. I love it… hope they let KK walk.

On one hand they would be poaching a 21 yo 3rd oa pick center for a late 1st and a 3rd… that’s a steal. On the other, KK could not pan out but still sit and sign his qualifying offer for $6m every year until they let him walk to free agency. Montreal now faces that same potential if they match.

THIS is exactly how offer sheets need to be done if they truly want the player. You have to take a big risk and overpay, otherwise it’s an easy match. The Aho offer sheet was a joke.

Carolina also has Necas and Trochec who will get huge raises next year… for a team that was the model of cap efficiency the last 3-4 years, they will now be pinched moving forward…

Oh and Aho only has 3 years left on his deal… think Montreal circled that date on their calendar?

He’s not worth 6.1 yet, but you gotta love the canes for really putting Montreal in a bind. If they don’t do it they will be out 2 centers was last year, if they do they are over paying and will be in a bind down the line. Like you said this is played perfectly by the canes. Ahos offer sheet was a no brainer to match. This one not so much.

This one is speculative but maybe BG is reading it too. Seems awful risky to me. Maybe the Wild are thinking about what they are going to do with the money they were going to give Kaprizov! whistling

The Wild Should Go For Broke and Offer Sheet Elias Pettersson

That’s ballsy, but I like it! Petterson would be awesome. I remember when he came into the league everyone was saying his frame was too small and he would get knocked around. I think he has proven them wrong on that, but he has obviously bulked up a bit since being drafted.
There is no way the Wild can do that and sign Kaprizov however. Something else would have to give.

I can’t imagine there’s any GMs watching this offer sheet situation unfold and thinking “Hey that looks fun, we should try that.”

Carolina is playing with fire and I love watching it from the outside. But no part of me wants to see Billy G throw the wild into the game of offer sheet Russian roulette. We have enough drama the way it is right now.

Agreed. The author’s offer wouldnt even allow the wild to sign Kaprizov so that’s a no go for me from the start.

Come on guys, you know why they signed Benn. So they can play the video of Yukon Cornelius on the jumbotron. Marketing! You know when they flash the starting lineups there when people are getting a beer or using the restroom, when he is on the starting line they can swap Cornelius for his pict.

That guy’s tweet exploded with Canucks twitter peeps reacting. LOL Essentially they are saying their current cap space isnt their official cap space and they would have no trouble matching any offer. CapFriendly shows 24 rostered players, when its only 23 who can play so that is issue #1, then some of those guys will get buried probably.

It was reported yesterday that Tomas’ Hertl may not sign a contract extension unless Kane is off the team. They are obviously in a rebuild. He would be a decent upgrade at center for the Wild. Not sure what it would take to get him Im sure prospects and high pick.

Just heard Russo on the Fan. Sounds like KK is close and he thinks term has been agreed to at 5 years and thinks the money at 9 mill as well. Other details to work out.
