I went a few years ago and it was pretty fun to see all the local NHL guys play together. Been meaning to go again sometime.

The Boldy ELC is a dumb argument, would you feel so much better had he played in the last few regular season & 7 playoff games on the 4th line with limited minutes? Instead they had him play a top 6 role and special teams in Iowa and he flourished, likely building his confidence to earn a spot on the Wild this season. We’ve seen both sides of Boldy’s confidence, the first 4 months of his BC career when he looked like a draft bust and then his dominating success ever since, I’m sure the Wild didn’t want to repeat that when he was signed…

Boldy could have played in Iowa without burning the year and then started his ELC beginning the 2021-2022 season. It’s well documented that was Billy G’s preferred option. They clearly had no plan for him to play NHL games, and I’m perfectly fine with that. I’m not fine with them burning the ELC year for nothing, just to keep Boldy happy.

Johansson was one of the team’s worst regular players. That is easily backed up with analytics and he certainly didn’t pass the eye test either, even playing with good linemates most of the year. Staal was traded at the deadline for 2 picks, Johansson was worth absolutely nothing at the deadline. Johansson hasn’t had a full healthy season since like 2016 so some surprise injury isn’t a valid excuse. Now add in that Staal plays a position of need for the Wild and Johansson plays a position they were backlogged in. Johansson also cost over $1m in cap space.

I listed a whole bunch of good moves that GMBG made, yet you focused in on defending the 2 obvious blunders. That’s how you get Billy G Fanboi status.

capspace last year meant nothing, so if Johansson cost $1 more is irrelevant..Johnasson is/was a playmaker and he can skate, this is the type of player he’s always been in the NHL, something Staal just couldn’t do anymore and it was obvious the last year he was here as he was routinely behind the play, obviously GMBG had hoped he would have gotten the Johansson of a few years ago, and if I remember correctly Johnasson was hurt early on in the season (after the first road trip?) and was never healthy the rest of the year before he broke his arm and was out for the season. I’d call it an even wash as Staal was a joke for Buffalo and barely played on the 4th line in Montreal and again, the main reasoning for getting rid of Staal was to get faster…

For whatever reason they ate Boldy’s 1st year, it was done for a reason that neither of us know about, they aren’t just going to trim a year off for the hell of it…maybe he threatened to stay at BC for 2 more years then becomes a FA? perhaps Russo knows…

if those 2 issues are what you focus on, then GMBG must be doing a good job…

I don’t agree with 100% of it but he makes some good points.

I dont blame KK97’s camp for wanting short term and his agent has a history of this with Panarin. I hope (as a fan) that it doesnt end up that same route, but if we could get him for at least 4 years I will be ecstatic. No one really knows what Kirill thinks of the offers made, I would hope that BG has a sitdown with the two soon to get this rectified, but maybe he has his eyes focussed on Fiala now with the arbitration filing, but IMO KK97 should be priority #1.

Technically the Wild just have to submit what they think Fiala is worth so I’m betting BG is working hard on KK because Fiala is in the arbitrators hands unless they are still trying to work out a deal first. But sounded like they were far apart also.

They can still work out a contract before the arbitrator makes a ruling.

    in Wild top prospect news:

Marco Rossi will play for Austria in a few Olympic Qualifying games the end of August, so he’ll finally get some real games in before Wild training camp!

Marat Khusnitdinov will be 1st line center for the top U-20 World Junior team as they start to play games (starting today) in preparation for the WJC in December/January, so good to see he’s back from the injury and regains his 1C role on the elite junior team…

We could have some strong center depth in the future. I keep trolling Rossi’s dad’s twitter account to see if he shares any updates but nothing recent. His pinned tweet is pretty awesome though.

We’ll get some video of these games i’m sure, this will give an indication if Rossi is back in form or not (he should look pretty dominating if he’s back to normal)…it’s just nice he’ll finally take some hits in 10 months vs taking his first ones in camp…

I’m excited to see how Marat looks today, hopefully he’s a little bigger and stronger this year…Corey Pronman should provide highlights if there are any today…

Rossi should compete for a Wild job this year, Marat is probably 2 years away (They’ll need to sign him away from the KHL at the end of the year and then he’ll likely play a year in Iowa)

Marat with a nice assist today in a 1-5 spanking by one of the better KHL teams…It’s nice to see him back on the ice after that tough shoulder injury…

Scott Wheeler had some nice praise today about a couple of the Wild prospects in Canada recently. He also vaguely eludes to Lambos’ medical situation, but there is no clarification on exactly what it was.

“LHD Carson Lambos: Lambos was excellent. He was confident and poised with the puck on his stick, regularly beating the first layer of pressure and scoring from the left-wing circle in the opener.

I spoke to Lambos on the phone this week to get an update on his health. He still isn’t quite ready to talk about the medical condition he had and the procedure he underwent to correct it, but he was in good spirits and happy to be back in his element.

“Hopefully sometime in the near future but just not yet,” he said. “The procedure was successful and I’m back to 100 percent and fully cleared so I don’t have to really worry about it anymore. It has been really good for me and I can get back to work with no excuses.”

    Ha that’s fantastic, nice find.

Can’t help but hope that 4 years from now we have Fiala/KK/Ek in their prime with Boldy/Rossi/Marat all entering theirs. Spurg and Brodin will still be around with a few of the recent draft picks plus Addison hopefully taking roster spots. Kahkonen Wallstedt tandem in net. Just hope Billy G can keep the 2 studs around until then.

The future goalie tandem will absolutely be named The Kahk-Wall blush

So the Lambos injury is something medically related, rather than a hockey injury. Maybe it’s similar to Khovanov how he had that tumor removed in his draft year.

I don’t understand the secrecy around it. I found an article that said he left his second game “with a leg injury” and then went to Winnipeg for a “medical procedure”. That is all I can really find and who knows if it truly was an injury sustained OR if it was something they found when they were checking him out. I would think that if he had like a knee surgery or something that would have come out and the fact that Carson says he’s “not ready to talk about it” is sorta strange. Did he get hit in the leg and then have a bruise or some clotting issue? Who knows. We will find out in time I guess.

LOL this is his signal that he’s been kidnapped!
I looked up the Winnipeg Ice website to view game logs etc and they had game highlights. I watched the second game highlights and Lambos got absolutely fried on one goal so maybe the procedure was to remove his jockstrap that was around his ankles?
In all seriousness, he appeared to play through 2 full periods, but I dont recall seeing him in any of the 3rd period highlights. No mention of any injuries, etc and they did some some big hits but none involving him.

I think when they said “He has a full clean bill of health” that points to something that was found and then removed via a procedure….there are plenty of things that could either be scary/uncomfortable/embarrassing to talk about as a young 18+ year old man (you probably get what i’m talking about) until you’re ready to…

bottom line is that he’s all healthy and ready to kick some arse…
