Wild are pretty hamstrung with Fiala and Kaprizov still hanging fire. Fiala wants long term security which they can’t give him until Kaprizov makes his deal. Kaprizov wants to see a big improvement down the middle for the Wild which just can’t happen with what’s out there that’s available. Or he wants to be just walked to FA.

I think this is going to get messy. I sure have to think BG wanted the KK deal to have been done before the bell rang today.

worst case they get both signed late and end up with alot of extra cap space left, we’ll then be big players at the trade deadline either making deals or being a capspace go through and get free picks for it…

Sorry Joe I thought I read all the posts to get caught up must’ve missed it or we were typing at the same time.

No worries, I thought that too actually, but it now makes sense, watching Gologoski last year I was surprised he still had game left, after this season he’ll be cheap insurance…

Vegas sure likes to play the no salary cap left game… maybe we can pluck Nolan Patrick away from them…

Sad to see Cole go but really happy that GMBG had the brains not to sign him at that number.

Overall I liked the guy, but he took far too many penalties and they were costly at that. Would have welcomed him back, but definitely not at that dollar amount.

Not aware of the LTIR concept? Allows them to accrue cap space and spend over the cap. Surely you were being sarcastic when you replied. The NHL is actively watching the teams using LTIR because last season 17 of 31 were using it. They are deeply looking into it and may request medical records etc so if you dont think it helps teams then obviously the NHL disagrees.

Your understanding of LTIR is wrong. Just like last year when Gaborik went to Tampa. Tampa is only trading for these guys so they don’t have to send additional picks. It doesn’t give them any cap advantage, they are not “cheating” or “at it again”.

Seabrook’s $6.875m caphit on LTIR will allow Tampa to go $6.875m over the cap. BUT since they are in LTIR his $6.875m cap hit will still count against the cap so their effective net cap hit is still $81.5m just like every other team in the NHL.

My guess is Dallas gets one good year out of Suter that being this upcoming season because he’s pissed off and that’s a good motivator. His best games will be against the Wild of course but then his anger will diminish and so will he. He don’t last four years in Dallas.

Really surprised Grubauer walked! It’ll be interesting to see what COL does in net now… that’s been their Achilles heel.

Chicago has to be the most improved team on paper this off-season. They’re making big upgrades all over the roster. That Jones contract is gonna be a killer in about 4-5 years though.

I was commenting about being surprised CO resigned Landeskog and my cousing (big time Avs fan) said that means they won’t be able to sign Grubauer. He was right.

Fluery still has not committed to the Blackhawks. Rumor is they may be trying to flip him back to Pittsburgh which is what he wants. Chicago trying to make one more run in the Kane/Toews era. Zucker to Blackhawks?!? Think he’d be a Wild killer in the likes of Tuch?

I just read that the Avs backup plan if they couldnt sign Grubauer was Fleury. That may be interesting.
Some of these contracts are insane.
Seattle has a glut of D and goalies now, they could start swinging deals.

It’s like the GMs are all busting out the piggy banks after a record low UFA period last year. They think since they didn’t sign any bad contracts last summer, they can all do double this year.

Why would LA Kings sign Dannault long term to big money? They have the best and deepest center prospect pool in the NHL – would love to see the Wild pry a Turcotte or Vilardi away for cheap.

Flower does not strike me as the guy who would refuse to report. He seems like such an awesome dude and Vegas absolute did him dirty. He may ask to be traded, but I do not see him retiring. I fully expect to see him start the season with Chicago.

I think IF Eichel is going to get traded, the Kings are going to be the team that deals for him…mostly due to the center depth you mentioned as the trade chips, but also because Eichel’s “marketing team” would want him in a huge market…

I know its early but so far pretty disappointing in the signings. Is Goligiski really worth it or just another signing of a home town guy?

It’s likely a 2 year deal with very cheap caphit on the 1 year extension he’s expected to sign in January. I thought he was still a damn good defenseman last year, hard to find top 4 pairing defenseman willing to take a short term deal which is really all the Wild could offer…I mean Suter signed with Dallas for 4 years…ouch…

tons of guys getting overpaid so it’s actually a good thing the Wild hasn’t fallen into the trap of signing bad contracts sofar…Hopefully GMBG can swoop in and take advantage of some teams in cap trouble already…

Seeler signs with flyers for a two way one year contract. $350k. I don’t like how this is progressing for our team. Seems like we are sitting on our hands here.

Yep we could have used Seeler especially at that price. Can’t hit the balls you don’t swing at I guess.

Hopefully the Wild can do with Kaprizov what the Lightning did with Point, 3-4 year bridge deal and then sign him long term on the 8 year max…Yes it helps to have a cup winning team, but the player needs to play ball too…

(Kucherov + Point + Stamkos + Hedman + McDonagh + Vaselevsky) total an insane $51,625,000 against the cap starting next year, it will be interesting to see how they will afford 15 more players around that core moving forward…

    Foligno to the bruins…….

Not good. Playing with his brother couldn’t even tip the scales. The Wild aren’t perceived as a team poised to win anytime soon which is what a aging veteran wants.

This was made to sound like a done deal nearly a week ago. I think the Bruins picked up Haula at over 2 mill as well.

I guess it’s a 2 year term, no word yet on $$ but you have to think the Wild was likely pretty close to it? GMBG sticking to his plan and not overpaying apparently..

Vegas has to be like $2-$3 OVER the cap right now and still has a few RFA’s need to be resigned, they have until opening night to get complaint, but they likely lose alot of leverage in deals with teams knowing they MUST cut capspace…

I was thinking he would come here, but having not seen the details, Im sure he is getting more money and term likely.
