To me Foligno is more of a wing at this stage of his career. I am not sure center is best fit for him. Maybe, but I think he has been more of a wing recently no?

I was figuring our 4th line would be Hartman-Sturm-Bjugstad? I guess Foligno could take Bjugstad’s spot, but I don’t see the Wild paying him the likely $2+ million per to play a 4th line role? Ek likely gets elevated from the 3rd line, so maybe they elevate Nico to 3rd line and Bjugstad center’s the 4th line with Foligno and Hartman?

Russo was just on KFAN saying Foligno would slide into Parise’s spot, and they don’t see using him as a center.

Friedman was on Buffalo radio station this morning and commented that the Sabres are seeking a 1st round pick and a prospect for Reinhart. Pull the trigger Billy!
Let’s put these Eichel to MN rumors to bed.
Also, regarding no “trades” during the Expansion draft, while they were not announced there were deals made per Gord Miller:

good bit of news, the CHL is allowing any under 20 prospect who played 20 or more games in the AHL last year (due to the covid exception) to be allowed to play again this year. Wild 2nd round defenseman from last year Ryan O’Rourke can play in Iowa again this season, a huge bonus for his development vs playing in the CHL…

Typically any player under 20 years old must stay in the CHL…

What prospect though? I don’t want to lose Rossi or Boldy… How about pick #21 and Greenway & Beckman? or #21 and Khusnidhinov?

I agree I dont want to lose Rossi or Boldy and I think Khovanov could be one of the other propects besides Beckman or Khusnidhinov.

What price point could they sign Reinhardt to long term? This year it’s not an issue, but years 3 & 4 you need to be real careful not to pin yourself in a corner…I’m guessing he’d want north of $7 per….Rask’s $4 comes off next year, then years 3 & 4 free up $6 each with Dumba and Zuccarello coming off the books, so that frees up some…

My guess is that Columbus will overpay for him…

My lunch today, in honor of Ryan Suter! May he sign with a cup contender!

RIght he would need to be signed for a reasonable deal, but even with those buyouts there is a lot of cap space but we will need guys on ELC and like vet minimum deals to fill out the roster.

I read that William Karlsson is the best comp deal for Reinhardt, so around $6 per season… that’s doable, but we would need 4-6 positions filled by ELC guys (Rossi/Boldy/Addison/O’Rourke/Hunt/Beckman/Khovanov/Khusnidhinov) the next 2-4 years, that’s also doable…

Lou apparently interested in bringing Parise and Suter to the Isles. That would actually be a pretty good fit for them.

with the added news today from the Montreal GM confirming that Shae Weber may indeed have played the last game of his career these last playoffs due to multiple injuries, the Parise and Suter buyouts look better and better vs any less painful type of trade scenario….

IF Weber does indeed retire, the Nashville Predators (team he originally signed the deal with before being traded to Montreal for PK Subban) would be on the hook for a $5 million recapture penalty caphit for EACH of the next 5 years…all for a player that hasn’t put a Predators jersey on since 2015!!!

Here’s the data point from capfriendly:

With Minnesota buying out both Suter and Parise, there are now only five (5) active contracts remaining that qualify for a recapture penalty IF the player were to retire before his contract was up.

    Sidney Crosby
    Jeff Carter (final year)
    Duncan Keith
    Jonathan Quick
    Shea Weber

found this video of Kaprizov’s first game last season (basically a shift-by-shift video)…

My gawd I didn’t realize at the time, but he should have had like 7-8 points that night with all of the point blank setups and pipes hit that he was directly responsible for…He was shot out of a cannon and a man amongst boys that night!

In Russo and Lapanta’s podcast from this morning, he said Buffalo wants Rossi, Boldy, and multiple first round picks for Eichel. No freaking way especially when they STILL haven’t let anyone see Eichel’s medical report.

Nedeljkovic to the Red Wings…..Interesting that Carolina traded him for Jonathan Bernier and a 3rd after a nice season.

Also just read the Kraken have almost $29 million in cap space to work with still.

Agreed there is no way if give that up. Boldy MAYBE but not both Rossi and Boldy. We need centers. Perhaps the Russian will be good, appears to be solid but we cannot mortgage the future for Eichel. Hard pass.

I’m really surprised GMBG didn’t make any trades today, there’s no “on the draft floor” trade deal possibilities tomorrow with a virtual draft so why not strike first now and get a D you want vs waiting for someone else to grab him?

That being said i’m really curious to see who Bracket selects! I’m hoping for Pinelli and Stankoven in the 1st…

I get the feeling everyone with NHL assets has sky high asking prices.

I will be reading up on Pronman’s latest draft primer and determine who I would like.
FYI Pronman has those to as 36 and 30 in his rankings. Not a big stretch for either guy, its been a tough year plus to evaluate.

Draft boards are all over the pace, I’ve seen Stankhoven as high as 13th (he looks like the next Caufield/Debrincat to me) short with an incredible shot and offensive mindset… I’ve read several mock drafts that say he could turn out to be the best player in this draft… Pinelli has been listed anywhere between 20-31 from what i’ve read… it seems like all of the centers (besides Beniers & McTavish) are pretty much ranked the same…

with draft picks being the main source of capital in any trade, I suspect if something is going to happen with Eichel or Reinhardt, it needs to happen before the draft starts tonight… stay tuned I guess!

I too have almost completely fallen off the Eichel trade bandwagon UNLESS it involves Buffalo retaining at least $2 million salary and Boldy & Rossi are not part of it, doubtful I know, but if Buffalo gets no other better offers and they want Eichel gone, maybe they bite? The money could then work just based on what Fiala would likely have signed for, I’m thinking Fiala, + Greenway + prospects/picks going back to Buffalo…

Absolutely baffled at what happened with the expansion draft. Didn’t draft the best players and also didn’t get 1 single draft pick or other asset… not 1 single trade was made, not 1!! What in the world happened there?

Yeah, it was certainly a head scratcher. Gord Miller had tweeted (I shared above) that there were no deals to select players from teams, but there were deals with other teams to pick certain players to then trade. I havent seen any reporting of that at all.
Maybe tonight there will be fireworks?
I cannot believe that the draft is tonight and Russo went under the knife today. Man, he is going to be hyped up on pain killers, though I have no idea what he was having surgery for.

Hahahahahaha Chuck Fletcher is at it again! Will he be fired before the draft?
He just traded for Ristolainen giving up the #13 pick and a second rounder! What a horrible trade and that is added to the trade yesterday of Ghost which was almost as bad.
And there is no salary retention by Buffalo. Muahahahahaha

Good lord Michigan, save some talent for everyone else. 4 outta the top 5 from 1 team… that’s gotta be a first in the NHL. Maybe even any of the major sports leagues. Especially considering the are drafting from like 300 different teams.

BG sees 3 centers in a row go off the board and says enough is enough! Trades up to 20! Great move! Now let’s get a top notch player!

Well that’s not what I expected. Sounds like he’s a possible stud goalie though. Gotta think the center is coming with the next pick.

Yeah that pick came out of left field for me too. Has all the NHL measureables though. Mechanics look good from a few vids I saw. Didn’t see this coming at all.

He’s a stud, expected to go about 4-5 picks earlier, Oilers fans freaking out Holland traded out of the spot and we then took him.

    Our goalie of the future!
