    Very nice rig!

For me the $4 diesel, the lack of thick enough ice, and the depth of snow on the lakes would have that thing sitting idle all winter.

    EPG didn’t buy it mrgreen

Now time to design a relatively modest cabin to put on our land peace

I’ll start a thread soon to start picking brains. On Monday I reached out to our local building inspector to hear the do-don’ts on new structures, waiting to hear back. I know I have to apply for a land use permit and sanitary plan/permit to really get the ball rolling.

Right now I’m kinda torn between an A-frame or a pole shed with part of it finished, but open to ideas. I plan on doing 80% of the work myself, and it will be a long/big project to undertake.

I just looked at 100 acres in pine city with a pole barn cabin / hunting shack. It was beautifully built. And I would highly look in to one. It was a 60 x 80 and had 2 bed rooms, a loft, plenty of room for cars and toys. 14 ft doors.

Congrats on the sale. It still boggles my mind that some one is willing to pay 50k plus for a travel trailer/ fish house.

I vote for the pole shed and finishing off part of it. That way you have a place to store your toys and tools now and in the future. You can live in it now and you have a place to stay and store your tools when you decide to build a cabin later.

Pole shed with living quarters all the way. Often referred to as a “shouse” (shop house) if you’re looking for ideas.

Well it’s officially sold, the money is in the bank and cleared, ready to go for life’s next adventure waytogo

It’s a bitter-sweet day, but looking forward to every minute of it. That money will now be used for lifetimes of enjoyment, not just a toy that will be worth very little in 10-20 years.

    Here we go!

Right on B man…50k for an ice house seems insane. You better get those boys working on there hammer swing and drill skills.

I agree $50k for just an ice shack would be crazy, but shacks in that price range are big year-round units.

We probably spent 75 nights in it over the last two years, the majority of those were off-season summer camping, deer camp, driveway camping, etc.

It served us well. If we didn’t have the opportunity to build on land it would have stayed ours for a long time. They’re awesome multipurpose units.

I’d vote for a shouse B-man. To me an Aframe is wasted space.
1st thing is to check on is to see if your township has any special zoning different than county. Then a perk test that works from where your building site is located. Work from there.
Good luck to you and the family in your latest life’s journey. waytogo
By the way everyone on this site will be expecting pictures on your progress.

one that big is more of a camper unit no doubt. glad you were able to move it and start a new adventure for your family! land is about the best investment out there it seems. i will be looking hard in about 5 years.

    50K/75= $666 a night plus interest

    Lots of hotel rooms

he sold the shack for 50k so your numbers mean nothing. if he used it for 75 days and then it was worth nothing then your numbers actually mean something

    LOL Jake jester

That’s not how it works. Quite the opposite actually.

We put all of the money from our last paid off shack towards it and had this one paid off in under a year, so interest was minimal.

Then I actually sold it for more than I paid for it (due to Biden Bucks) and had 75 FREE nights lodging….So it actually saved me $7,500 over the course of almost two years.

Not to mention a pile of priceless memories to go with it that didn’t cost a dime in the end waytogo

Yeah, I’m ticked I sold my 2019 too soon to make the move on the fixer upper lake cabin. Same model is selling for 5000-7500 more right now after all the manufacturing hikes and bidenflation.
