Class A is underway. Class AA tomorrow. I have bias toward Andover since I work there and have friends with kids on the team. Would love to see them take it all.

Without Edina in it, Lou should be tolerable to listen to.

He was commentating during the Preds/Wild game last night and it was intolerable. I can’t stand him and I guarantee when Eden Prairie plays, he’ll be all over them incessantly.

Wouldn’t mind seeing Andover, Maple Grove, and Blake win a game or two. Unfortunately Blake and MG play each other so that outcome isn’t possible. EP and Hill Murray can go ahead and lose right away.

I have a buddy whose son is on the team. Last crack at it being a senior. Pulling for him and the Huskies. His sister won the state title for girls a couple weeks ago so he wouldnt hear the end of it if they bomb out I am sure. -)

There’s always a couple blow out games in the tourney. Hermantown seems to be giving Monticello all they can handle but lead only 1 to zip.

I’m surprised Louie didn’t work in a Edina reference in the Wild broadcast last night! But yes he should be tolerable without Edina in the tourney this year.

I’m sure most of you have seen this already.

USA hockey hotbed heat check: What’s the center of the American hockey universe?

As someone on Reddit put it, no one needs to tell Edina they’re the center of the universe.

“In the Twin Cities, it might be Edina,” said Tom Chorske, a Minneapolis-born former NHL player who’s now an analyst for Fox Sports North. “They win a lot at youth level and produce a lot of college players. A lot of Wild players live in Edina and their little kids are playing there.”

So there you have it: Edina, Minnesota. The center of the center of the hockey universe in the United States.

St. Cloud Cathedral dominated us, Alexandria last week in the section championship. It looked like we were playing a junior team. Cathedral is solid.

Any one have any AA tickets they might not need?

I am number 2044 and 2045 on the waiting list for tickets. In 20 years I should finally be able to see a AA game without having to buy scalped tickets.

Warroad and Hutch up next. Pulling for Warroad but wouldn’t break my heart to see Hutch win either. Hutchinson is pretty close to my hometown but I’ve lived in the northern part of the state for over 30 years now so I can’t help but feel a little allegiance to the northern teams.

Exception might be Hermantown. They are the north’s Edina! smirk

    Hey DT @deertracker

I was having trouble picking up channel 45 over the air but I found if you download the KSTP channel 5 app on your roku (or other streaming device) you should be able to get it.

Edit: wait a minute. It looks like I’m only able to watch clips. I’ll see if I can figure it out.

Gotta feel bad for these young kids (goalies) getting lit up. Biggest games of their young lives.

Sounds like the Hutch goalie was having nerves before the game and then get lit up like that ya gotta feel bad for the kid. But 3 out of 3 games so far being blow outs doesn’t make for fun hockey to watch. Switched to the Flyers Caps now.

This is typical for class A hockey. The parity is terrible, unfortunately. The class A private schools should be considered for AA more than the public schools. It wouldn’t change how warrroad and hermantown dominate but it is what it is. As long as they fit the criteria, they should be rewarded for what they have. Private schools have a significant advantage in class A.

I was reading in today’s paper that Cathedral had possibly the best 3 forwards in the state, playing on one line. I didn’t see that game but wondering how many goals they accounted for?

It’s always been that way, and most likely always will be. And yes, it does make those matchups mostly predictable.

Not good, never make it farther.

The worst goalie nightmare has always been keeping your nerve in Madison WI. Seen it countless times…”the sieve chant”

    Sometimes absolutely brutal… shock

Can I just say that Jim Erickson and Mark Parrish make for a very respectable duo doing the games? I know Lou is tradition but I really miss Wally Shaver. I love hearing him call the Gopher games still.

I hope Jim Erickson calls the AA games.

Wally Shaver is very good. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree as his dad Al had done the North Star games for so long at such a high level it was hard to listen to anyone else. Al Shaver invented the call “He shoots he scoooorrres!!

Hoping for some more entertaining games today!

That kid from Warroad who scored their first 3 goals in the first period raises his hand and says “HELLO, what about me over here”. -)
Those games were all brutal to watch save for the Delano/Mahtomedi game.

I believe that Jim does the play by play on the radio for St Cloud State too.

Yeah, they did, but it really has run its course. Was a good time to hang it up.
