Sounds like a liver shot to me and the exact same hit I got on my doe a few weeks ago. They can go along ways with a liver shot. I backed out and waited until morning, full 12 hours and she was still warm when I found her about 10 am. Good luck.

I have no good news. Judging by tracks only, never saw it or heard her, She went around 100 yards and bedded, but then got up and ran about another 100 before walking non stop. Good blood for the entire 200. Then she stopped bleeding. It took alot of searching and gridding to find any blood again. Lots of fresh tracks and very sparse snow anywhere but north facing slopes. Found a few drops of blood 200 yards after last. Followed tracks in the leaves and crawled looking for more. I slowly and quietly searched around 80 acres of oaks and hills to no avail. I grabbed every memory card tonight incase she passed one. All the blood was a good crimson color. Artery I would assume. Never had any dark or pink. I’m gonna go slow stalk and search a bit more tomorrow. Frustrating to say the least. That shot appeared to be just left (back) of perfect, but by no means bad. I followed her tracks for sure for around 500 yards of zig zagging, and then easily searched the next 400 in a fanned out area where she was headed. Fingers crossed I find her or she lives. We’ll see.

I had good blood too for about 150 yards. Every time she laid down it would clog up. Sounds like liver to me. Let her lay for the night, hopefully she’s dead not too far from where you left off.

This pic was the entry and after gutting her, the liver was center punched.

I lost blood for a good 40 yards before she started bleeding again and found this pic. Hang in there, and good luck tomorrow.

Randy, the stock on your rifle is beautiful! I’d like to see more of it! Is it different kinds of wood or is it stained?

They don’t do justice for the actual 360 view . I’m 16’-6” ground to bottom of floor joists

Btw Sharon, I tried to talk Steve into bringing you down here to hang out for our opener. Apparently you had more important things to do….

And I know you got a big 10pnt on the wall….blah, blah blah but you would have had some trigger therapy on the 20” spread

Gorgeous rifle, Randy! And that stand looks quite comfortable too.

I haven’t deer hunted in a couple of years actually, pretty much since we adopted the dogs. But maybe I’ll get back out there one of these years. You guys are sure making me miss being at deer camp!! 😁

Well it’s been a rough few weeks for me on public land. Finally caught a break and watched a real nice buck across a swamp from me. If he’s doing the same thing Friday he’s toast waytogo

Not much action this morning. One small spike so far. I’m still bow hunting, but didn’t hear any smoke pole blasts yet either.

Well I saw the buck and he’s every bit as big as I thought. Never made it across the swamp to me. Gives me some motivation to not hang it up just yet.

C’mon Carter! I’m 80% sure my buck is gone and the only ones I’ve seen or gotten on cams are next year’s game. I gotta root for ya!

Going to try my best! Won’t get back after him tell Sunday. Doing a morning hunt in a different area tomorrow. But what about the other 20%? You never know!

2 deer 100 yards away, and 1 coyote that was booking along at first light to quickly for a shot.
