On the edge of a swamp this morning. Had 2 snorting at me in the dark. Rotten snow was very crunchy and loud. Hopefully everyone called down. Dead calm with a couple flakes.

October 30, 2020 at 1:12 pm #1983982No deer seen on stand this morning. Lots of bear and wolf tracks. Definitely since Tuesday. Maybe everything is a little stirred up out there.
deertrackerPosts: 9237October 30, 2020 at 10:53 pm #1984106At least a few guys are holding this thread down. I have not been out for a few weeks.
DTOctober 31, 2020 at 8:00 am #1984141I’m on metro public in a spot I thought I’d get deer pushed to me, but I was either wrong or no one is out. But I do have a red squirrel who won’t stop chirping in my ear.

October 31, 2020 at 8:21 am #1984146Oooh he looks mad at you! LOL those little buggers can sure make some noise, can’t they.
I love following this thread and am living vicariously through it for now. Thanks to you all and good luck on your hunts!
October 31, 2020 at 12:31 pm #1984186Well I had an interesting morning to start my vacation. I got down to the farm to find some new posted signs on one side of the road. Figured the farmer did it, so no big deal. Then I get to my stand and find one of my climbing sticks was missing so I couldn’t get into the tree. I talked to the farmer, and he didn’t hang the signs or touch my stand. It’s pretty crazy to think someone would have the balls to post someone else’s land, and then mess with the stand. Sad people need to be like that! Hopefully tonight goes a little better.

The best picture of a red squirrel is teats up and not breathing.
October 31, 2020 at 4:02 pm #1984234Back at it! Hunting a hillside along the road tonight. This is one of my favorite rut spots. It always seems to produce a lot of action this time of year. I have high hopes for tonight!

October 31, 2020 at 8:38 pm #1984303Well my Wisconsin season started about as quick as it ended. Had plans to hunt hard for the upcoming week but those plans didn’t quite materialize as I was able to take this one off public land on my second sit off the year. I was a bit surprised when I walked up on him as I thought he was bigger based off the pictures I had of him and his body size but I’m still very pleased with the end result.
On a sidenote, I can’t believe how much wireless trail cameras have revolutionized the way I hunt over the past couple years. With 3 kids under 5 years old at home my time in the woods is as limited as ever. The ability to obtain real-time information from the woods is priceless and I don’t think I would have dropped everything and made it into the woods on late Friday morning if I wasn’t able to see the level of activity I saw a few hours prior.

October 31, 2020 at 9:24 pm #1984314First time posting on live from the tree but long time lurker. My location SE mn in bluff country.
Sit tonight in my favorite stand. Wind hollowing but deer still moving. 2 doe in soybean field and 3 year old 8 came in slowly grunting but does ignoring. Chased around a little but eventually left them alone.
2 year old comes in chased does away. 2 bucks end up lightly pushing each other around for 15 min or more. Fun to watch.Later 4 more does came in along with a better 8. He paid very little attention to other bucks and does. Deer starting to move more here
November 1, 2020 at 7:54 am #1984352Im sitting in the same spot as last night. I’ve only had a fork and a fawn go by so far. This wind is making for a pretty wild ride in the stand!

November 1, 2020 at 3:34 pm #1984497Raced up to the woods, got dressed faster than Superman, walked very swiftly through the woods to the #1 stand for a w-sw wind. There just out from the stand, was my parents, a grandson, and the dog….
Its their woods, so off I went to a different spot. There’s only a million squirrels hopping about and the leaves are doing out. We’ll see how this goes.Attachments:
November 1, 2020 at 4:02 pm #1984503Flippin wind is brutal. Came out to my tower to glass the sanctuary. Not expecting to see much more than yearling in the open. Came out here at 3 and it’s been nuts. Two nice bucks fighting at about 450meters out. Turned my head and had a good mature buck following a doe at under 60. Rushed and shot low, clean miss. For the last half hour he’s been raising hell in the sanctuary responding to deep grunts/snorts. Won’t come out again yet. His younger brother is out just over 100 and won’t respond to anything.
November 1, 2020 at 5:32 pm #1984523Ok, he has a force field around him. Missed him a second time. Followed a doe right past me. Watched the arrow do a weird cork screw and went beneath him. At least it was a clean miss both times
November 1, 2020 at 7:28 pm #1984549No shots for me tonight. Did have 3 little bucks and 3 does with fawns pass through. One small buck was pushing a doe around. She was not interested in the least.
Almost clobbered a nice 10 pointer one the drive home. He jumped the road but crashed through the barbed wire. Hope he’s alright. I believe I saw him many times this summer.
November 2, 2020 at 7:01 am #19846114 does and a small 8 already this morning. He walked the opposite direction. I can assume they didn’t have the aroma yet.

November 2, 2020 at 8:28 am #19846363 more does, 2 more small bucks, then this guy with a slow steady walk 10 yards past me. He’ll be a stud next year if he makes it through the next couple weeks.

November 2, 2020 at 2:21 pm #1984755I had a little 8 cruise the hill side already, and I’ve already heard a few grunts in the other direction. Thats more exicitement than I had all morning!

November 2, 2020 at 3:10 pm #1984776Getting in one more evening before I need to head back to work. It’s been insane all day here in sw wi. While working on my barn and yard work, bucks have been chasing all day. Just set up in an old rock pile I haven’t sat on in about 15 years. Nice spot out of the wind. Of coarse I see deer 600 yrds out in the wind. Regardless, but a fun couple days on the farm

November 4, 2020 at 3:39 pm #1985420New spot tonight since the other archery hunter shot a nice one last night, and he’s been wandering the farm since then trying to find it. Moved into a draw surrounded by standing corn. Its good to see lots of fresh buck sign again!

November 4, 2020 at 4:07 pm #1985427I’m in the same spot as Monday morning. Perfect for sw wind. One little spike so far. Thought it was a doe till it got 5 yards away. Almost drew back the arrow!

November 4, 2020 at 4:36 pm #1985433Had a buck following a doe and fawn. Just for funsies I grunted to him. He came looking. About 10 yards away. Downwind. I’m all of 7 feet off the ground. Yes I wear camo, and scent killer…..

November 4, 2020 at 6:58 pm #1985471Rattled in a 6 and a 4 with a half hour to go. They came running. They were plenty charged up. I’m pretty excited for tomorrow morning!
November 5, 2020 at 7:03 am #1985546Beautiful morning. The squirrels are hard at it. Sounded like elephants before shooting light even! Doe and a fawn so far. Hoping things blowup here. I think the deer are ready! Saw alot of bucks out searching on the drive home last night.

November 5, 2020 at 7:21 am #1985551A beautiful morning indeed! Same draw as last night. I had a buck work the scrape along the ditch im sitting over before it was light. I now have a decent 8 bedded with a doe at the top of the draw on the hillside. To top it off the farmer just showed up to start taking the corn out.

WE saw some brutes way to the river yesterday morning well before daylight. With the clear skies here and a still bright moon I think there’s a ton of nocturnal movement happening.
November 5, 2020 at 8:03 am #1985565Does live from the deck count? I could throw a rock and hit this guy but then would have to clean it.

That there is a beauty! Urban?
November 5, 2020 at 9:06 am #1985606Been covered in deer all morning. 2 does, 2 fawns, and 6 different bucks. Including 3 at once from different directions. No shooters, but I’ve watched 2 different sparring matches from 50 feet away.
