I wouldnt throw in the towel on the river bottoms yet. Once it cools off and everyone in Carver by you is done walking around in the woods with their puppies and stuff the deer will be there.

Yeah I was thinking that, plus there’s not much for oaks down there so once the acorn feast is over.

I dont live to far southwest of you and it makes a huge difference. There is public land all over just find the areas without nice parking lots and walking trails and you be surprised what you can find. There is acorns to be had just use topo map or whatever thats called and find the slighthly higher areas that dont flood every year.

I mean a huge difference getting away from people not that I dont live to far southwest.

Sitting in the camper. Been raining since last night. Should be a break around 3. Wind will be good for my favorite stand.

It’s 22 degrees at 8am in NW MN. All the puddles were frozen this morning as well. So far we have seen 1 buck at 982 yards. Lol.

I was trying to take a picture of the moon this morning as well, it looked pretty cool around 7 when I was leaving for work.

Thats barely over a 1/2 mile just aim about an inch high.

First sit of the youth hunt… set up on a pinch point pretty far into the property… hoping my 11 year old can get it done!

In a different stamd tonight. Have seen a few does and fawns off and on since 315.

7 days from now I’ll be hitting MO for my first sits of the year. Keep’em coming guys…getting excited!

All out blizzard for an hour in central todd county this morning. Ach pair of us saw 12-15. Lots of smaller bucks.

Had 2 doe’s come running by the office window this morning, guessing the temp drop and snow has em moving a bit.

I see more big bucks from my office window than I have in my life while hunting. Unfortunately the city of Eden Prairie would rather pay sharp shooters to come thin the herd in January than make money with city bow hunts. There were a bunch of people hunting the public land in Carver/Chaska this morning, but I’m still going to try and find a dumb one this weekend.

After a clean miss on a big old doe last night my oldest was pretty bummed out, and moping around all day. I convinced him the buck might be around tonight. I know the doe is in the next county! 😂

Im pretty far in at a new spot tonight. Its a pinch point between two river channels. Not a lot of sign but there is a few random rubs around. Hopefully the drizzle stops soon!

Anyone else have their bucks disappear? We saw 1 buck on Thursday and that has been it. Besides 2 spike we aren’t getting them on camera either. 3 weeks ago I was seeing multiple bucks a sit. Including a few 8 pointers. Now nothing.

I had a mass die off of trail cameras this year so I haven’t had any out, but at least in my area the bucks seem to be moving around a little more since the big cool down. I had a 6 and a small 8 point come through pretty early tonight in the rain along with a handful of does and fawns. A couple friends have been talking about good movement as well including hearing some fighting going on. Part of that is probably due to the crops getting picked fast around me. Deer are finally getting pushed out of the corn.

Are you hunting MN Hillhilker? I’m in NW MN. We don’t have much for ag fields around. The one bean field was harvested 3 weeks ago.
