If you think bass thumb hurts you should feel bass palm. You know you are getting some nice ones when you get a rash here

Thanks. A few of these lakes are going to have some Monster fish in the next few years. I can’t believe how fat some of these fish are. Even the 18″ fish look HUGE. They are definitely feeding real well. Looking forward to the fall when they really put the feed bag on ( Although I don’t see how they can get any Fatter than they are now ) I think we are going to have a good shot as some 6lb. + fish this fall for sure.

Last week had a catfish remove a 2″ circle of skin off the top of my hand lol … had to go ‘arm in’ to get the hook

It’s been a tough couple weeks of fishing for me so I started trying to improve at techniques I suck at. Jogging in deep water being #1. It finally paid off this morning and I stuck my biggest fish of the year. 5.22 lbs on an All Terrain Tackle AT jig. Black and blue. Made my day even if it was the only bass I caught all morning. jester

Great fish. I have struggled with the jig out deep this summer for some reason. It’s usually one of my favorite presentations. Especially for large fish. I’ve had much better luck on a Texas rig or jigworms lately.

I really wish that I could develop a confidence in fishing a JIG. It is probably the one technique that I have never fished much. I’ve had friends and fishing partners who fish a JIG all year long and do real well on them. Some of the lakes I fish I’m sure it would be a great option. I just have a hard time picking it up and giving it enough time. I probably need to bring nothing else on a few outings and force myself to use it.

I don’t see any reason to deviate from what you have been doing, based on the photos of the hawgs you just posted. If it aint broke, don’t fix it.

I need to hit a river soon for some smallmouth. Largemouth fishing has just been so good its hard for me to stop though. Rivers are definitely my jam in the heat of summer.

I’m with you Fishthumper. I may be the worst jig fisherman in the state. I’ve NEVER had confidence with it. That fish is literally the 3rd fish I’ve ever caught on a skirted jig. It’s not something I throw and have ZERO confidence in. But the way the last three outings have gone for me I figured it was time to put the time in. This was my first cast with the jig yesterday. I have seemed to have gotten more bites by dragging the jig very slowly for a foot or two at a time and letting it sit for 10-30 seconds. I have a buddy who crushes with a jig in deep water and he says he basically is deadsticking it. That really discouraged me because that is PAINFULLY tough for me to do. I am certainly not confident with it yet but that fish will fuel me to pick up the jig more in the near future and keep working on it.

I really have no doubt after this fish and watching other people using the jig it is one of if not the best big fish rig you can throw.

Forgot to share this picture earlier in the year but figured I might as well post it before we flip our calendars. Caught in early June, North Central WI. 21 inches and a shade over 5 pounds.
