The Forks must have blown today then
The little fork blew last night.
Hopefully the Big Fork lets loose today also and gets the majority of the breakup debris flushed out of the way by the weekend.

That’s crazy because this was 5 pm yesterday.
Gill, were you up there?
We are still planning to go. Leaving on Friday morning. Probably plan on targeting Sturgeon mostly, unless the river clears up by then. Could be fun anyway… never caught a Sturgeon before.
Heading up tomorrow night. Sounds like Pelland to International Fall’s will be our target area. Maybe Frontier or Birchdale will clear up slightly by Saturday? First time up.

Yes, I fished Sunday-Tuesday. The bite was very slow to say the least. Spoke to a lot of people that know the river very well that had the same luck.
There were definitely fish to be caught, a good percentage of big females too, but the water clarity was getting worse every day.
How long (days) does it typically take for the fishing to heat back up?
gill it blew later in the evening… the rainy is full of ice debris now. i want to say the big fork let loose as well but i cant confirm that one. Bunch of facebook video from this morning of the mess.
I just got off the phone with Sportman’s. They claimed the Big Fork was still locked up. Just hoping it doesn’t go while we are up there, but it probably will!
OK…. check that. I just talked to Steve’s Lucky Bait and they said Big Fork let loose last night. Said the river was pretty much unfishable today…
Did anybody attempt after the forks broke
Big fork was still jammed up at the bridge yesterday afternoon/evening. Fish has been slow from the gap to birchdale for anyone we have talked to. Lots of grass and wood yesterday but not alot of ice coming down.
We fished Vidas yesterday very poor results. Can’t keep grass, leaves, sticks off the line. Debris still floating downstream. Fishable, but muddy and annoying. We are fishing closer to the gap today for sturgeon.
Lost a big sturgeon boat side (hook popped out as he started to roll on the surface)
Got redemption on this one though!

Heck yeah that’s awesome. What were you using ?
Any reports on the river today near Frontier? Has debris slowed? Heading up Wednesday regardless, just wondering if we should plan to fish 4 mile/wheelers point? We are staying near Frontier.
Bearcat we were using 4 oz no roll weights and 5/0 circle hooks. Night crawlers and frozen shiners both on the hook. Ended up with two more (all on Sunday). Biggest was 56.5 inches.
Lost another big one right at the boat. He started rolling and the hook just came out.
Will be investing in a bigger net next time! All these fish were tail grabbed by my buddy (Hemi)
All in all a good trip. Difficult start driving up on Friday in a snow storm. And then finding out the walleye bite was basically non existent. But once we got the sturgeon action going it saved the trip. It was a blast!
Does anyone have an update on the big fork? still holding? we are looking to head up at the end of the week.
thanks,

Best bet is to call Steve’s lucky bait or any bait shop up in the area. I know it was real bad Monday and I’m sure it still is today.
I read yesterday that the Big Fork started to break loose, but the amount of ice flowing wasn’t too bad, so maybe it didn’t totally blow open. And that’s from internet hearsay, so take it for what it’s worth.
