Back out. Beautiful out. About 150 yards NW of where I was last night. Hoping Sticker takes the same route.

November 3, 2019 at 9:04 pm #1888672Well #1 didn’t show tonight. I saw a couple does out of range, and called in 4 bucks with the can call. All 4 came running in to 50ish yards about a half hour apart. Largest was this tall 8, he’ll be nice next year. Overall a fun evening. One of my memory cards showed me walking South, with buck #1 going north about an hour later…….

November 4, 2019 at 5:08 am #1888684That’s my brother. Phone reception was spotty that day. I was sitting in the truck waiting for him to come out of the woods when all his texts finally came through!
November 4, 2019 at 3:14 pm #1888835Going to be a looooong week if these guys keep running by my office. This is a new 10 pointer that showed up this morning and has been dogging does all day.

Nice FellaPosts: 457November 5, 2019 at 4:37 pm #1889192It must be this cold snap, but it seems like some kind of switch was flipped in the last 24 hours – and I’m just talking about in my neighborhood. I’ve had numerous doe hanging around since summer, but yesterday morning while out on my dog walk I spotted 2 forkhorns sparring across the street, with a bigger buck lurking nearby to take on the winner; then last night coming home in the dark at 5:30, there about 8 deer hanging out on either side of a nearby road, literally munching on grass adjacent to the sidewalk; this morning my neighbor texts me that there is a nice 6-pt buck standing in his yard. Finally, a buddy in Sawyer County sends me a text of 2 basket-bucks fighting in the field behind his house.
So much fun all at once is getting me jacked up for gun opener! The rut is on around here.November 6, 2019 at 3:30 pm #1889454Fresh snow and man are the deer moving!
8 pt at 30 yards. He’s lucky I’m lookin for his daddy!Attachments:
November 6, 2019 at 4:02 pm #1889471Little tired of getting blow around in a tree. Country clubbing tonight in a box blind over a rye plot. Doe, small buck and 2 fawns out already

deertrackerPosts: 9249Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559November 8, 2019 at 12:16 pm #1889832No weight on it yet. The deer was shot in Fillmore County….he’s pretty tight lipped as to even a close location.
The heaviest snow from the other day fell about where he’s hunting….5″-6″.
deertrackerPosts: 9249November 8, 2019 at 12:46 pm #1889844Yeah, I was just asking for what portion of the state. Figured it was South. Don’t think we have any snow in NW MN.
November 8, 2019 at 1:51 pm #1889852Deertracker – how come we didn’t get any waterfowl reports from you this year?
Carry on
November 8, 2019 at 3:51 pm #1889864Last “quiet” evening sit for awhile. Al the ponds are froze with a couple inches. Enough that the deer can short cut their travel patterns if they want. Saw 5-6 bucks with their noses to the ground on this mornings drive to work. Anyone see any signs of receptive does yet?

I went once. Kind of lost my ambition this year to duck hunt. Hope to get back to it next year. My kid has a nice Can going on the wall though.

November 9, 2019 at 12:00 pm #1889957I tarnished my CVA’s good name this morning. Had a descent 8 tending a doe from as soon as I could see them until an hour after sun up but never gave me a shot. Then another slightly smaller but nice 8 came in with a group that must have been bumped by neighbors and milled around but never gave a shot. Then at about 10am or so an 8 point better than the first two came in and bumped a small doe fawn that had been bedded down about 40 yards away since right after first light. I had one small window and I out the first miss my CVA has had on it. I think there may have been a small branch I didn’t see as I shot a good foot over his back at 80 yards (a shot I’ve made before).
deertrackerPosts: 9249November 9, 2019 at 12:26 pm #1889960Uh oh. Throw it away and get another. Sounds like good activity at least. What part of the state?
DTNovember 9, 2019 at 12:37 pm #1889961Was hoping to get a nice doe this weekend, and mission accomplished first thing this morning. 125 yards thru the heart with The Hammer, my Grandpa and then Dads 30.06 that pounds nails and is now my honor to shoot. Heading to Wabasha next weekend for Bucky.

DTOlmsted county. I’m pretty sure I hit a twig or something I couldn’t see, looking at the impact of the bullet on the hill it went right over his back, which seems really odd as I didn’t felt like I flinched or anything like that.
Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559November 9, 2019 at 6:25 pm #1890007I saw 17 deer today, 10 of which were bucks. ^ shooters, including one 8 point that’s now on the garage floor awaiting the rope. Hoping for the doe tomorrow. I had a shot at a dandy doe but sort of missed. In a hurry, all me.
November 9, 2019 at 6:47 pm #1890011Carter, yer guns upside down….
Thats how ya trick them into thinking you’re harmless. Little problem is I didn’t see a thing today… oh well
November 9, 2019 at 10:37 pm #1890031Guns were right side up n popping for us. Doe for me and a fine 8 for my oldest.
