I am thinking about purchasing a 2018 2060 and would love some help from you all. I fish mainly Lake Erie and as everyone who has fished her know she can whip up and get ugly in a heartbeat. I would love some real talk on how these boats handle in rough water. I have heard mixed things. What have you guys seen. The one I’m looking at has trim tabs on it and the 250 Yamaha. I am going from a 2014 Z9 Nitro bass boat to this as my fishing needs have changed and I dont trust taking my young boys on mother erie in a bass boat so I know it will be waaay better but I just cant find much information. Please help me out with some info. Not so much 3 ft and under as I’d run those in my bass boat. I’m talking 4+ not that I’m going to plan on going out in small craft or anything but I need to know if she gets nasty it will be fine. Have been out eye fishing countless times on my buddy’s starweld and when we started was 2 ft or less but time we come in its whipped up to the 4-6+ range so it happens. Sorry soo long on the post. Please help a brother out.

Been fishing Erie with a Skeeter since 2015. We go there 2 weeks a year. I currently own a 2015 wx2060. I go with a group. 2-3 boats a year different manufacturers. It handles well. No problems. If I am out on the water there is other walleye rigs out. If I am not out, the parking lots are empty, probably just 26’ cabin boats or larger. I have enjoyed the 2060, selling it and moving on and picking up the new 2200 come June! I fish Michigan and Green Bay all yesr. Got stuck out in some really nasty weather a couple times, 6 footers plus. Tight chop waves and large rollers. No problems getting back in. Let me know if you have any questions

I had a 2060 and got caught in some bad weather and waves on LOTW, we did fine getting back in the 6 plus miles but just had to take are time and play it smart. it would have been better with trim tabs, it was a great boat but wanted a 2190

Thanks guys I appreciate all the input I am really excited about this potential purchase and the fact that both you guys are staying in the skeeter family is also a plus in my eyes. I was leaning heavily towards a nitro zv21 as I loved my nitro but when I went to look at the skeeter I was blown away. The fit and finish and the over all quality of how it is put together you can see they are not cutting corners with these boats and I’m excited to be possibly joining the skeeter fleet.

I like the skeeter for the open floor plan also, didn’t like the storage in the nitro taking up the floor in the back. good luck with new boat, my old 2060 is still for sale with only 90 hrs if interested

While everyone has an opinion, I encourage you to drive one for yourself !

Dean is right. You need to get out and run one for yourself. I believe you are from Ohio (Clev Brown fan), and I believe I talked to a buddy of yours last night about WX2190. I ran a 2016 for a couple of seasons on Erie and loved the boat. I would still have it, if my dealer hadn’t made me such a deal on a WX2190 they had in stock. It is a big 20′ boat, set up for great lakes style fishing with the big cockpit area. It is also a dry boat when running in the rough stuff. It ran 54 mph on flat water w/a Bravo FS. You can’t go wrong with the boat, and Skeeter has a pretty good price point for a tier one Walleye boat. Shoot me a pm if you specific questions. good luck.

I have ridden in both… ZV21 I would rather be in for big water to be honest. But does that mean the 2060 isn’t capable?? Not at all… I love my 2060 and I will still go out on any water my old mans ZV21 will be on, but If I had to choose, I like his ride better.

The fit and finish of the skeeter is better for sure, and the 2060 is a much better boat for tracking as the react keel is legit. I find myself fighting less to keep on a straight line. The 2060 is more agile in the water as well which I like.

But that ZV21 is a wave crusher for sure. I like the storage much better on the new 2060 as well. The back flip compartments are way better and take up less room that the ZV21 which gives you more floor space. But if you have a ton of tackle and are like us and we bring everything, the ZV21 gives you more storage with the side compartments.

I also like the windshield better on the Skeeter as well. More of an upright shield where the Nitro is laid back more. I find myself getting wet in both boats but less in mine. Thats in some big waves though where spray does happen once in awhile.

Either way you go TRIM TABS will make either boat ride like a dream. You can’t go wrong either way.

In fairness Chris, the longer boat almost always wins the big water ride….not to take away from your well intended input!

Phil Yea you did speak with my buddy last night he is currently in the market for a 2190 right now. He has a 20 ft Starcraft we fish Eyes out of now. Great boat has served us very well. But like me he was in the market for a glass deep V and he is leaning heavily towards the 2190. I was pretty dead set on the zv21 until I got in that skeeter. I loved the layout better than the zv21 and rangers I have looked at. How it has the back compartment but not the sides giving me more room to work and honestly like the front deck better as well because on the nitros in front of the windshield it has the bait well and its raised, although its not much space on the deck its lost space. On the 2060 its flush with the deck. The fit and finish was just light years past the nitro. I LOVED my Z9 but having owned it for years I saw the areas that they cut corners to bring the price point down nothing major really but the finer details. I saw none of those ends being cut on the skeeter. Im looking for a great multispecies rig as my passion is smallmouth fishing but I really enjoy eye fishing as well. This boat seemed to offer the best of both platforms as far as bass boat deck up front and walleye in back all on top of a deep v. Even down to the rod lockers being able to accommodate the longer trolling rods. The zv21 could only fit up to 8 ft. As far as the rough water I really wanted to hear how people who have been in the rougher stuff in these rigs and how they felt they perform in it. For whatever reason that information for the rangers and nitros were more readily available online than that same info for the skeeters. I know both these rigs will be much better suited than the Z9 I was running. Erie is just a different animal and was looking for input from you all because the more information the better. I really appreciate all insight and thoughts you guys have been very helpful.

Remember, it’s as easy for Dean to deliver you and your buddy each a new Skeeter as it is to deliver just one. wink

I have run the 2018 2060 for just over a year now. I have been very happy with the construction and fit and finish of the boat. In my humble opinion the Boat should not be sold without tabs. This hull is much faster than the 2017’s and with boats everything is a trade off. If you are not running hard it has a tendency to porpoise without the tabs if you have someone sitting in back. The slightest touch of tab cures it. Also, the mercury 4 blade LT seems to be a better prop choice than the SWS2 in these boats. Almost everyone I have talked to says it’s a night and day difference. I have to wait a few months to try mine out. All in all I would not hesitate to take my Boat out in rough weather. It is a 20ft Boat, so 6ftrs I’m staying home, but if you get caught you can scream in or ride it out slowly on the way in safely. There is definitely a rough water advantage to a 21+ ft boat, but not enough to justify another 10k for me. I don’t think you can go wrong with the new skeeters, I absolutely love the layout of mine for what I do. With the tabs and a 4 blade prop you can bury the nose and go through just about anything at 15-20 mph. I have not had this Boat really slam on me yet. Even before tabs and it would bounce a little it always re-entered softly and was very dry.

Thanks for all the info everyone I ended up putting the deposit down and will be doing the final paperwork on thurs. She does have trim tabs on her and I cant wait for the spring to come so I can put her to the water. But there is a lot of work to get her where I want her. I have a bunch of stuff to install and to do before them
I’m ready to get to work I have s hell of a palate to work with. Here are a couple pictures of her now.
