I think it is now official. There is no way most of the state will have open water for opener. I am now hoping for sustained cooler weather so I can ice fish opener in northern mn…..

Are you referring to bass or muskie opener?

Doesn’t matter. If the snow and ice was gone we would be complaining about raking the yard and mowing grass. And don’t forget the mosquito’s!

Soon we will be complaining about flooding.

Just for a reference. On April 24th 2012 I was out mowing lawn when the wife came outside and told me her water broke. One year later on my sons 1st birthday me and his grandpa were ice fishing. Amazing what a different a year can make.

No but Belinda told me I will be right.

I usually fish opener with my brother down by faribault and we’re planning to make jiternice that weekend because there’s still trucks driving on ice down there

For my sake as the family fishing trip planner I hope you all besides dutch are wrong.

If not I’ll be easy to find, I’ll be the one on the ice with a flamethrower.

I’ll be side by side with ya. I can’t promise promise everything will be open, but the Ash River and Sullivans Bay will be. Oh, I can promise it will be cold.

I’ll take that, no bugs. Last couple trips the islands start humming just before sundown, stayed out long enough to find out what was making that sound only once.

Yes there is a reason we listen to the ballgame and have a cocktail at night rather then fish.
