Unfortunately the rest of my hunting party is back at work/school for the work week. We hope to get them all moving again this weekend. There was a lot of shooting going on last weekend where I’m at too. Sounds like nobody else was having the same problems I was. The deer on the farm I’m hunting have seen so much pressure from multiple hunting parties and even some duck hunters shooting back there doah

Why do you think those fawns are so small this fall?

Switching it up tonight. Sitting in a stand that hasn’t been sat in in a few years. Hoping the deer are using the cattle pasture to stay if of the wind.

I hunt East of Isle, 16 miles north of Mora and I did not see any sign of rut activity this weekend, apart from seeing bucks in daylight. I messed up on a nice 8 point opening morning that came through very calmly. He was just eating twigs and moving at a moderate pace. Definitely was not in pursuit of anything. That evening a basket 6 pointer came through that I decided to pass on. He hung out with me for a little over an hour. He even bedded down at one point 35 yards from my stand. My neighbors shot two bucks opening day and neither of theirs were chasing does and their necks weren’t swollen and their foreheads weren’t red. Also, none of the does I’ve seen have been very worked up like they were being chase. Every deer has seemed very relaxed. Is it possible we are still off of peak rut East of Mille Lacs? Or have the amount of bucks I’ve seen just been too small of a sample size to judge the rut? Either way, I’m hunting straight from this Friday 11/9 until season close on the 18th… Hoping to get another shot at a nice deer.

I hunted oct 31 to nov 5th in se mn and I saw 1 fawn and small buck on the 3rd. No grunting or deer moving even before and after dark. Usually see lots of deer per day in the area I hunt and hear even more in the dark.
Last night out on the 5th aw doe and 2 fawns still together moving up a side hill. Climbed down and moved to stand close to trail they used. Had first buck grunting and following trail doe used. Was lucky to find opening to shoot the 9 pt.

I think they are just starting and not a focused rut

More snow moving through. Like I said, I didn’t plan to sit all day. Didn’t bring lunch with me. Luckily I found a bag of Dots pretzels hiding in the stand.

That’s a big bag too. You could stay a couple days, just collect snow flakes for water waytogo waytogo

BTW, those are really good pretzels toast

Don’t care if it’s blowin, I’m still going! Sitting down in a draw on a good pinch point. Ponds are froze over, flurries falling. Seen 4 deer in 35 minutes. 2 Bucks chasing does. Both smaller.

So windy tonight even the squirrels didn’t come out. The woods is a ghost town.

For me the wind died out about 430. Just does and fawns though.

Just when I was going to report that it has been quiet in the first 30 minutes a doe jumped the fence with a spike on her tail. Last sit of the gun season for me this morning.

Well…been absolutly miserable here. I have been hunting straight since opener. Have not seen a buck. Scrapes and rubs are basically non-exsistant. Few does have been seen. Have almost seen just as many wolf tracks as deer tracks! Guys next to us saw a few wolves. Hunted 4 areas. By far my worse season ever…but it can change in a second right????

I don’t get it. November 10th and does and fawns everywhere. No bucks and no chasing. This is unreal…

We saw 9 deer this morning including one shooter and a basket 6.Maybe the snow, maybe the cold, but they were on the hoof today. On our way to the mountain we saw maybe 20 deer out in open fields. And yards. Tonight was the end for this old boy as the nephew ran out of day passes from his bride. I have my two, that’s a good plenty.

Finally harvested a buck today. Chasing a couple does and left the area. Grunting brought him back. It was the most exciting shooting I’ve ever had!

Shot an absolute monster last night crazy Was sick of not seeing much so I decided I’d plug the first deer I saw this weekend. Got steaks for jerky, some trimmings for sausage, and gonna try some fried heart tonight. Have one more tag to hopefully fill tomorrow.

Hunting near Rochester, did hear about some smaller bucks chasing this afternoon. Deer have really been out and about since the temp drop.

    Nice deer. Congrats.

I love hunting fresh snow when its not too heavy….like this morning. It was brisk out there at sunrise. The phone said 4 degrees as I caught the sun just breaking clear of the horizon.

Not a half hour after taking this picture I had a six point stiff leg past me right in front of the larger tree in the middle of the picture.
