Fun to get out on the ice again. Last thursday was a dandy day and found fish with a friend in 6 to 8 feet by the weeds on the small lake we were on. Gold 3mm tugsten and polka dot pink in 4mm tipped with different plastics got the job done.

    Nice catch!.
How do you like that rod and reel combo?
I’m thinking about getting one of those style reels but not sure how they handle panfish.

I started using the CGI #8 3 years ago and I really like them. Not made anymore so might be hard to find one. The upgrade is the One 3 Descent reel. Its nicer. Comes in black and the push button on the side is not a knob. I like 3# solar green micro ice line on them. This rod is an old gander 25 inch UL with a titanium spring bobber attached.

I just spooled up with the 3# solar green micro ice line this year. Haven’t used yet. I see 2 of your pictures you use no clear leader but, on one it looks like you might have? Do you typically use a floro leader or not? What is your water clarity like? Just wondering if you notice any difference.

    Thanks!

Started using the solar green last year straight to the jig. I think on the one pic the camera just didnt pic up the green. Using it in all kinds of water. I got it mainly so I can see the line better with these eyes. Seams to not bother fish anywhere so far. Couple more pics. These 3 are from last spring.

I run Cortland ice mono in 2# green for my eyes also, doesn’t bother the fish at all in my eyes… Hope it works tomorrow as I’m going for the first time in the a.m.

    eyeguy54,

Looks to me like your fish catching skills are good. But your photographic images are close to professional. Color, layout, presentation of both fish and product.

Is your profession in image marketing?

    Beautiful images… applause

thx Andy, photography is a long time hobby. I really enjoy taking gill pics. So much color and patterns are cool. And I hope when people see some of my pics they try some shots themselves.

Nice pics. I got out today again with some buds and decided to keep some for the smoker. Itty Bitty spring bobber did good. Would have done some more pics but was windy out there.

Thanks for the answer on the line. I had tied a leader but, may not worry about it. Tying 3lb mono together gets to be kinda of a hassle! tongue I also know what you mean by “these eyes”! shock

Got out yesterday for the first time on the Miss river backwaters. Found fish in 5’ of water , bite was a little slow but the size was good , biggest a 91/2” gill . Teardrop jig tipped with a waxie outproduced plastics .

Here are a couple pics from around the metro fishing so far. I haven’t been able to get out of town for Giants yet but these are some nice pannies for local fishing! I was able to get out with my 2 year old once. That was a blast but taking pics was not easy ha!
