Pug, the LiveTarget Sunfish looks like it’s still treating you quite well. I plan to tie it on this year and keep it on..! Going to try the Toadrunner too – –

the big girls can’t resist it. I like the different action I can do with the thing. And I have yet to lose one to a snag. Other topwater will snag in the notch of a Lily pad. If the sunfish gets caught there a slow easy pull will pull it out.

I just picked up the Strike King Poppin Perch. When I first saw it I thought it looked ridiculous and then I saw how the pros were fishing it and I was sold. They are using it in open water (as in no pads or weeds) around docks and over weed beds with great results. Can’t wait to try it.

Hmm, I’ll have to look that one up.

I have a few frogs, but I rarely use them. It’s the sunfish or 2 other lures depending on what I want to do.

There is a z-man plastic popper that I use. I have to be careful around Lily pads with it because the popper face will get caught in the pad notches.

The other is a fluke which I will burn across the surface, weightless of course.

Well I guess a forth is the trusty buzzbait.

Caught this one last night. Weighed 6.32. Bluegill swimjig. Also lost one minutes later that was as big if not bigger.

That’s a hog! Did the swimbait happen to be the Savage Gear Bluegill?

No. I found a combination that is hard to beat. It’s both ecinomical and flat gets bit! And that combo is a strike king swimjig with a Yum Pulse Minnow swimbait with about 1” cut off the head. Both in the bluegill color. The action it puts off is hard to beat. And it will go through any kind of structure. Just cast it out and a slow steady retrieve and it’s game on.

Biggest bass of the year so far. Caught it on 4lb test while crappie fishing. Took me to the other side of the boat before I could get it under control. Fun fight. Skip to the 4:30 mark for the bass.

I need a little more help than that! Right now it’s just fun. If it gets there someday that’d be cool too.

I’ll be posting a video soon. Nothing special. I am mad because I hooked into this bass that jumped 1 to 2 feet out of the water twice. The problem is I was wearing a chest mount and facing out into the water, but casting parallel to shore. I had to face that way because I was keeping the rod tip out so I could run the bait away from the bank. So between that and my arm blocking one of the jumps, it was hard to see.

I something hook bass on my unltra light and I hope that it pulls out instead of breaking off.

Caught 19 on a single spot last Sunday. They weren’t bedding there they were just on the feed. Pretty awesome when the boy and myself could get them on both our confidence baits. He was working a Shadowrap and I was ripping a Chatterbait. Got a little wet from the rain on the way to the ramp but well worth it.

A couple of better fish from last week. We spent a week up near Aitkin, MN. The Bass fishing was outstanding.

My 6-year old did a great job with this 18″ this weekend. He picked the lure and fought this fish all on his own. Dad just stepped in to grab it. The smile says it all!

Had a good practice day today getting ready for a tourney on Sunday! Caught a few 4 lbers and would’ve had a bag of around 17 lbs. just hope I can find them again on Sunday!

They sure didn’t. Each of the big fish we caught on our practice day were in different spots, using different techniques. So needless to say I was REALLY excited for Sunday to come around. However, NONE of our spots produced and we had one keeper until the last hour when we figured the only place they were biting were on overhanging trees but they had to have leaves touching the water. Caught 3 of our 4 keepers on those in the last hour of the tournament. Finished with 4 fish bag for 8.42. Definitely disappointed but proud we battled through a figured out the bite even though it was too late to turn our tournament around. I’ll have the video up on my youtube channel in the next day or so. Frustrating, but still a fun day.

Made our summer trip up north for Smallie’s. We didn’t get any biggens nothing over 20 this trip. Biggest was 19 3/4 a ton of fish all hitting the 19 mark or just over.

A few Eyes and ton of pike caught. A few Muskies follows and a few swing and misses. Did have one almost in the next but she rolled and the lure came flying out.

Cool picts. That last picture is interesting because I thought the fish had an unusually long tail, but on closer inspection it appears the tail is bent toward the camera?
