I haven’t duck hunted nearly as much this year and even though my nephew moved to LaCrosse this year it still didn’t happen nearly as much as I would’ve liked. I did however get out this past Sat. It was great to be on the river again for the first time in 2 years!!! My nephew scouted Friday in hopes of finding a spot to start on and while he found mallards pulling off a particular spot, they either moved on or we needed to be doing an afternoon hunt. That said while we could have killed a few birds we were unable to get them to commit completely. We don’t like taking long range pokes. We shut off the robo, moved decoys, turned robo back on and nothing seemed to work in getting them close. We ended the day having killed one young drake pintail, one of the nicer pinnies I’ve ever seen. I’ll try to get a pic up of that bird, but its on my phone right now. Hoping to get back there a bit more next season…
