Hey guys just looking to see if anyone else is running this or similar motor. I am suspecting a water intrusion as I changed the gear oil and I wouldnt call it milky but it was grey. I went to hit the grease zerks and on one of them just above the lower unit the seal is leaking a bit of water and has a white grease coming out with a touch of water. Also wondering if I am missing a part here on the motor to cover up this push rod. Sorrt not super mechanical but have included some pictures any advice or thoughts are greatly appreciated.

The part the grease is coming out of if the pivot shaft housing for the motor when you turn the steering wheel & the motor rotates & is not directly connected to your lower unit fluid reservoir / etc. I’d verify if your drain and vent plugs both have 1 gasket on them (I’ve seen them doubled up before as well and /or missing) as a preliminary check on your suspected water in the gear case.

And, no, I don’t think you’re missing anything there; that shift is the shift shaft that shifts the gearcase when you move the throttle control.

My 2015 115 Suzuki looks similar to yours. I don’t think you are missing any parts there either.

I would pull your prop off and check for fishing line wrapped around first

Exactly, pull the prop and check the seal area good for fishing line. I’ve seen lower units ruined from line eating up the seal, and it doesn’t take long. For sure sign is water in lower unit oil on a healthy motor. And if its a fireline type it is the worst.

There are other seals that can go bad too like the one around the shifter and around the drive shaft.

The best thing to do is pull the LU and have it pressure and vacuum tested

Thank you guys for the input. Boats are stressful for sure.
