Nice ones RS! Looks like the leaves are turning there. Are you fishing above or below Stillwater? PM if your uncomfortable posting.

Thanks Bk. We caught all of ours between 94 and the new bridge. Came on just crawlers, crawler fathead combo and cut sucker. Didn’t seem to make a difference.

Just remember Andy doesn’t give away his spots. I would guess that fish came from a ways away and while Sharp Tailer was measuring it Andy moved his boat. I’m not saying…just saying.

I’m heading out tonight for the first time this fall. What’s the hottest menu item on the St Croix right now? Shad? Crawlers? Surf & Turf?

Let’s hypothetically pretend that I don’t have access to shad. Are they showing a preference to anything else right now?

i havent been out lately but the buds that were out last wkend said they had shad, cut sucker, fathead and crawlers in all sorts of combos or plain.
however, crawler/fathead combo was the ticket.
i honestly wonder if the fish just happen to come across those baits first.
    Fish are weird

I’ve been using 2 rods with crawlers, one with shad and one with slices of sucker. Gave up on the sucker with 0 fish in the last 6 weekends of fishing. Shad has brought in a few. Without going back and counting…around 10.

Maybe it’s just the area I’ve been fishing but crawlers have been king.

However since others have experienced different results then I, I would try a number of baits and let the fish tell you what they want.

Thanks guys. I’ll be out at the community hole tonight around 8:00.

If you hear anyone yelling like a teenage girl meeting Justin Bieber, it will be my brother with a fish. He always acts stupid like that. I don’t know why I even bring him anymore.

Not how I instruct on how to hold a rod or fight a fish, but it shows how much adrenaline a first timer gets with their first monster… Truly one of the most enjoyable things i get to experience taking people out fishing… What a joy!!

Some decent ones from the weekend. No Giants, but still good fish. We caught a lot of fish throughout the long weekend. These are a few of the better ones.

I love taking out newbies. Seeing their reaction when a big fish takes that first run is priceless. Wish I could do it more.

Had Greg Gunter and my grandson, Kieran, out a week back. Greg hooked into his PB sturgeon. 59″ don’t recall the weight.
Kieran got a couple chunky channels.
Last night Kieran caught his PB sturgeon. 54″ and 34 pounds. Moments later he caught a bigger one- 56″ 36 pounds that took a quick exit while setting up a pic

We thought shore fishing was just about done for the year…we were wrong. This might’ve been our best weekend of the fall.

We just got back from the Rainy River. It was a great trip for our group with a lot of people breaking that 60 inch barrier for the first time but this one was the last fish caught in our boat and by our group on the last day! Ben came away with the fish of a lifetime measuring 71×31! It was an intense 18 minute battle that I was glad to be apart of and helping get that beast into the boat. She was released and swam away strong.

Always seems like the larger fish are caught later in the year.

Lot’s of awesome picts guys! And that 71×31 make me JELLY!! toast
