My biggin so far this year.

This past Tuesday night… 18″ and I bet pushing 4#!!! We got three more of these toads trying to catch walleyes off a main lake hump. Lost another the was at the surface and took him all the way back to the bottom in 22′ of water. He was a bit bummed out…

It’s been a great year for bass around the metro!!

Were those from real early in the year? They look very chunky, like they got some eggs to drop. Nice fish.

All within the last month.

The one with two pictures was from a tourni yesterday.

Caught these 3 over the weekend fishing for Walleyes 19,almost 20 and 20.75. Might have to do this more often after. oops uploaded wrong picture

Caught some huge bass on the frog!

5.55 lb, 21 3/8 inch bucketmouth in a metro area lake.

Best smallie of the year – 21 inch, 5lb 3 oz on a drop-shot Mille Lacs Seth Fieder style

It’s been a great year, and it’s not done yet! The best day included 10 smallies over 20 inches. There have also been a few walleyes over 25″ that have found their way into the net.

Biggest smallmouth so far is 23 inches, and well over 7 pounds (caught last weekend). Here’s hoping for a couple more fantastic weekends to keep chasing them!

Still getn’ on some nice large mouth here in southern Minnesota from the kayak.

I’ll finish out my year with a pic of “smallmouth bass thumb” from earlier this season. A small price to pay for a good day on the water. Til next year !!

Ok, I have a goal – and that is to be the 2nd IDO’er of 2017 to post a bass photo. No doubt I expect mplspug to post the first for I think the 3rd (?) year in a row in January (I’m sincerely jealous!). But my hope is to be #2. Will be in Naples end of January and hoping my recovery from wrist surgery #5 will be far enough along to catch a largemouth and post the pic. May have to catch it left-handed but hey a guy has to have something to shoot for!

FryDog I think I am going to at least give someone a fighting chance and say I cannot post until I get at least 4#…maybe 4.5#. For me the joke has run it’s course. At the very least I should force myself to post a decent fish.

I think anything to start the year off is acceptable. And for those of us that don’t ice fish it actually gives us the first ray of hope that there will be open water again. Post away, and I’ll see what I can do to eclipse it in size although no guarantee I’ll catch anything…

Funny it feels like I have done it more than 2 times. I’ll see what I can do. I haven’t hit the ponds very hard since mid summer. It should be heating up now, although I am a little concerned the retention pond is waaaaaay down. I wanted to fish the full moon last Wednesday night, but maybe I’ll do it tomorrow before sunrise. The moon will just be past its highest point.
