The C+R season for lake sturgeon will begin on March 1st, 2015 and run until the prescribed spring closure date (April 14th in most or all cases). Check rules when they become available.

    Added:

The C+R season closure for the MN Canada border waters including the MN portions of Lake of the Woods and the Rainy River will definitely be different than April 14th. Currently catch and release is open on those waters from Oct 1, 2014 – April 23, 2015. So are legally open right now. Dates for the remainder of 2015 will be available soon when the 2015 MN Fishing Regulations are published.

The sturgeon were Happy and jumping friday/saturday.
Hit boomsite landing and didn’t take 3 minutes before i saw the first sturgeon launch into the air.

Seem them jumping from boomsite all the way to andersen bay.

I ended up leaving saturday early afternoon due to bimini mechanical failure (Whoops). Biggest for me was ~20 pounder that i released boat side 2:30am saturday.

Good to see they’re still there are ready to be caught

    Bait of the day?

I have a number of requests asking what to use for bait this time of year.

P4? These all came from Sucker Creek. ;)

The last two State record shovels came from P4, I’m certain the next one will as well.

Sno Suit and charcoal warmers. Just need to get acclamated…then we’ll be good. It’s just that first night that I dread the cold…more so if it’s windy. cry
