The boys and I, along with a buddy made a trip out to the Red River near Fargo to do a little catfishing. What a great time, we hooked 16 channel cats the biggest being 9lbs 9oz, which we threw back. The rest made the trip home for a 4th of July fish fry. Most were under 20″. We also caught 5+ sheephead and a large sucker that ended up getting used for bait.
First -timer, my daughter and I were out wacky-worming for smallies on the Miss and she latched into this 31 inch catfish… must be 10-11 pounds?? What a thrill
congrats saweet fish, yep they sure like dem worms and crankbaits too
we always seem to catch a few every outing esp in mid summer
makes for a great bonus fish
And the fact it was caught on an ultra-lite led to quite a fight. Should have taken a picture of the hook, it was nearly straight by the time the fight was over…
We were camping this weekend, and my son got into his first channel cats. Nothing big, but lots of action, which is what was needed to keep his interest. As you can tell, little sis was quite impressed, too.
