I’ve seen a few friends with some pretty darn nice fish so far this year.
Lets get this thing rolling….
Nate with a nice size coho and me with a good size steelie.
23″ Canadian Brook Trout. Estimated weight 6+ lbs.
I was sad to hear that brookie with the shoulders was stripped of its 7 Tour De France titles. Tested positive for synthetic Testosterone and HGH.
I’ve been dropping the ball on taking pictures this year. Not sure why, but just haven’t been taking the time to do it, which I always regret. Anyways, here’s a couple from 2014
We only made 3 trips over to L Michigan this summer. The fishing was pretty good, but the memories will last forever as we just had a blast this summer with a good crew on each trip.
Can’t forget the runt of the litter….
LOL! Check out this king-the magnum spoon was longer than him!

Crap! I think you beat me:), yours makes mine look like a lunker. Mine was on a Magnum spoon too. It was a lead setup that I was letting out. I had 1-2 colors in the water (15 yds or so behind the boat), and I felt a bite like I had a crappie on. At first I dismissed it as the flasher/fly just getting under water and starting to thump as the flasher rotates. Wait a minute! This has a spoon on it; not a flasher/fly….. I reeled it in and couldn’t believe I had a little King hit it that close to the boat while I was setting it back. Of course at that point, I challenged everyone in the boat to a “smallest king” contest for cash. Nobody was interested….
That big guy was on leadcore- I don’t remember how many colors anymore, but I saw when it hit-the board dropped back, barely, and sprung right back into position. The crew thought I was crazy!
Got this big guy on the Bank Reef out of Sturgeon Bay, WI last week.
Nice use of time while traveling through that no wake shipping canal! I’ll have to remember to take pictures in that stretch next year. Typically I’m about bored to tears going through there….
Nice Fish! How’d the meat look? I last fished 8-15 through 8-19 and we had two fish that were pretty ripe; dark on the outside and the meat was a mix of off white to almost grey. Other big fish we had that trip were nice and silver with good pink flesh.
Yeah the no-wake zones are brutal coming out from Sawyer Park. I havent timed it but it must be atleast 45 minutes just to get out to the lake.
That fish looked great but it was our only 4 year old. We also had a good mix of 2’s and 3’s with some really nice steelhead mixed in. Man are those things are fun, jumping multiple times completely out of the water.
I took a lake michigan newbie and we fished 8/22 pm 1-3, 8-23 am 10-13, and 8/24 am 5-5. Sunday morning was brutally rough, we were definately the smallest boat on the bank in a Aluma Trophy 185. It had been 2 years since I was out there last and it really lit the fire again. I wish it wasnt a 6 hour drive.
I love it when they nearly touch both ends of a 100 qt cooler

16 fish in 3 trips; that’s awesome most years, but especially this year. Nice work! I love the Rainbows too….except when you have one of those days where all that jumping causes you to lose 50-60% of them; that can get frustrating. It’s great when it all comes together though, and man are they tasty on the grill.
It’s about a 4 hour drive for me and even that’s a bit tough given our busy summer schedule. I’d go over every weekend if I could. I love fishing all sorts of different species, but L Michigan Salmon is my favorite for sure. Nothing can get your blood pumping like doubles and triples!!!
Double from last weekend. Dipsy W/ spoon got smoked mere seconds after the rigger got popped. Lots of doubles happen out here, but gotta love those “tandem-fire” ones.
