I just purchased this boat and noticed when I’m cruising with throttle wide open there seems to be a lot of water spitting up evenly on both sides of motor. See photo. Motor is 60 HP Mercury 4 Stroke. Prop is standard and tight. Any thoughts on why? There isn’t any hanging fish locator wires or ropes that would cause this. Maybe it’s how Lund manufactured the bottom of the boat back then.

Does the boat have power trim? It looks like it’s trimmed quite a ways down at WOT, but that doesn’t necessarily explain the spray. Maybe too much of the stern is still making contact? Check the mounting height specs too. Maybe that is contributing.

Regardless, looks nice for an 07′!

That does seem like a lot of side spray. There is not some type of a Hydrofoil fin attached to the motor is there? Mounting Height would be another Guess.

Boat is very clean for its age. Thank you for noticing :). Does have power trim and was trimmed all the way down at full throttle. I’ll have to check correct mounting specs. I can’t imagine someone would mess with that from the manufacturer but could be a possibility unless the motor was swapped. From my memory I think the motor was one notch below the very top. No hydrofoil fin or any alterations to the motor.

…was trimmed all the way down at full throttle…

You should trim the motor up when you’re on plane. This will lift the bow. Not sure if that will alleviate the spray you’re seeing, but it’ll handle better and go faster with the motor trimmed up.

I agree with Ralph. Looks to me to be trimmed all the way down still at cruise.

Look up a YouTube video on how to trim a boat with power trim. It will make a lot more sense than a long winded description.

and was trimmed all the way down at full throttle.

Do yourself a favor and have someone that you know with experience go out with you to show you how to run it. At the very least watch some videos. That will probably go away once you trim the motor up.

Once you start trimming the motor up you will notice that your boat will speed up and become a little easier to steer. You will/could see about a 3-4 MPH difference.
