Any distance shooters here that can point me in the right direction for a good 20moa base?

McMillan stock is ordered. Gun is a tikka 22-250. Vortex viper pst 4×16 ffp for now till I can find a new gen II razor.

Im wanting to see how far I can stretch this gun, I know its not the ideal candidate but its what I want to play with right now.

Farrell- bed the base like they say. But they are built super tough. Not cheap though.

    Buy Farrell rings as well.

They have 10 MOA bases too. Maybe a good option if you want to split the difference.

Stay away from the cheap a$$ aluminum. I think EGW makes a super heavy duty allum one for Tikka that I have seen a few guys use. I found a good steel one when I was setting up my Tikka 270WSM. I ended up not going with a 20 and using the Burris Steel 2-piece 0-MOA. For the life of me, i don’t remember where or who had the steel

That 10 MOA is a pretty cool option. – Be sure to read through the specs on any scope you consider and make sure the MOA elevation listed is TOTAL or from Center. Most will be Total, so divide in half to get your actual. Example – Burris XTRII F-Class 8×40 is 70MOA total. You have 35 MOA from center

I have never used one before, run out of elevation at 800 yards. Shooting for 1000 this summer.

Am I going to need an adjustable cheek piece? Thought about that today while “working”. And then spent the rest of the time trying to find information about it.

McMillan stock is on back order so I can still change my order.

Check out Murphy Precision, and look at a 30 moa rail for your build. The 30 moa rail will work well with either the PST or the Gen II Razor. They have a web site and break things down to the different actions. A call or email there will also get you all the info you need.

As far as your 6-24×50 PST you have either 19 mils total vertical or 65 moa, can’t recall what you had.

As far as the Gen II Razor you have 33 mils total vertical

A 30 moa rail will give you either approx 30 moa or 8 mils of useful adjustment

On the PST you will gain close to a full travel then
and on the the Razor you will benefit in the additional travel.

I would not get anything smaller then the 30 moa rail, don’t buy cheap, money is well spent on a quality rail.

    Cheers

I see that you have a 4-16×50 PST
that would be either 21 mils or 75 moa of total vertical.

With a 30moa rail, should I get an adjustable cheek piece on the stock?

The adjustable cheek weld will only help in your ability to be more accurate with the rifle, every rifle I own has this option. It’s all the little things that add up to make a big difference.

    So yes.

    Cheers
