New Pond is on Fire! 20 Giant Crappie

Anyone having similar luck? We’re just north of St. Louis. Around here big crappie are rare so maybe it’s just this particular location?
Also, what would cause the Crappie to grow so large here? We didn’t catch a single one less than 14 inches. I’m at a loss for words.

Awesome fishing! waytogo Those are some brutes. Good job!

Any idea what the length of them were? The one that you thought was 2 1/2 to 3 pounds looked long. toast

Thanks! Yeah I still can’t believe it. They averaged 14.5 but a few were right at 16. A buddy says he pulled a 17.5” out of the same pond. I didn’t believe it at first but I can believe it after that day.

It really would. There were quite a few areas of the pond that were inaccessible while bank fishing.

I think what he’s saying is that a lot of those private ponds in that part of the country have huge crappies in them because the owners don’t take any fish out of them. They just grow and grow.

Yes. Any private water which is more prevalent down south since pond sized bodies of water tend to freeze out up here.

Thanks for sharing, those are pigs. My cuz lives down there and have passed quite a few ponds I would’ve liked to casted into.

I’m a bit more protective when it comes to spots, hide the precious…..

Thanks for watching! And heck yeah, I’m not supposed to tell a soul about it. I live in a small town and word travels fast!
