What are guys using for high quality / professional 2 stroke air cooled engine oils? I’m talking about oils for chainsaws, brush cutters, etc, NOT outboard oils.

I’ve been using Stihl HP Ultra fully synthetic, at the usual obscene Stihl price, but I used up my case of that stuff that was required to get Stihl’s absolute joke of an “extended warranty”.

I’d like to stick with full synthetic and I really like the little 2.6 oz bottles that mix one gallon as these store easily in the tool boxes and don’t require messy measuring. I like to mix 1 gallon at a time because then the fuel gets used up in 1-2 weeks at most so freshness isn’t a problem.

I used 12 gallons of chainsaw and brushcutter fuel between April 1 of last year and May 1 of this year, so my gear is getting run pretty hard. I think good oil is essential, just not willing to continue to get ripped off by Stihl.

What are the other good oils out there and where do you get them?

Fleet Farm has Husqvarna oil. That’s what I use, but I don’t burn through it like you do.

I use Amsoil Sabre in my small engines…
I buy the quart bottle and use a turkey injector to measure it..not messy at all.
    Works great!

Yes, I see Husky XP Pro is available in a 24 bottle case for $51. Which isn’t a bad price. I’m probably paying way more than I should for the single mix bottles, but it just makes it so easy.

Was wondering if anyone used Bailey’s timber supply brand 2 stroke oil? Seems to get good reviews, fully synthetic, and they say it’s made by major US manufacturer. Which verifies my suspicion that this stuff is all coming out of 1 or 2 factories and a different label is being stuck on.

Do you mix it at the actual equipment ratio, Mud? ie 50:1 or whatever’s called for?

Or do you use Amsoil’s 80 or 100 to 1 ratio that they recommend specifically for Sabre Oil? That’s what kind of makes me nervous about Amsoil. Well, that and actually trying to find the stuff.

Same here, they say you can run at 100:1 but I like to keep it a little richer, closer to 60-70:1

I mix @ 80:1 in my auger, trimmer and tiller but you can mix it anyway you like….It’s been 3 or 4 years…no troubles at all.

NAPA in the cities carry it + others..do a search on Amsoil’s site.

I’ll throw in two cents worth,I use lucas land and sea two stroke oil in my mercury 40hp,my two echo saws, one is 80cc and the other is 50cc,I also use it my trimmer, love this stuff, and it is synthetic.
I pay 7.00 a quart for it when I buy it by the case,I have bought it through orielleys, and midwest wheel, when I cant find it,which is rare,I call lucas and talk to a district rep, they sell it to me for the same price with no shipping.I dont work for or represent lucas oil products, but I have 37 years in the automotive and agricultural repair fields and use lucas products in everything I own, have had fantastic luck with their products and highly recommend them.
