Had a group of 4 up for a 3 night, 2 full day trip and we stayed in one of Lake of the Woods Outdoorsman sleeper house.

Fishing – was slow but consistent, and busying enough to keep us interested all day long. Had some dead times, but then flurries of fish. Wasn’t really a better time of day, fish were caught all times of the day. Dead stick out performed jigging, but there were 6 dead sticks to 2 jigging sticks, so there was an advantage. But, jigging brought the fish in, but the action chased them away to a dead stick for the bite. Bite was light, not aggressive, and any movement and the swam away. Any thing small and pink was best, but gold backed pink was good at times too. One dead period a small white puppet minnow jigged got hot, but only for a short time. We kept 1 fish to every 3 caught, but would only keep fish that would touch both sides of the bucket. Had to CPR some small ones to get them to swim back down, but tried to keep only quality fish. Biggest Walleye was 19-3/4″ (1/4″ lucky) released, and a 18-3/4″ that was tasty. Also a couple of nice 15″-16″ Sauger. But in the end we caught enough the first day for a good fish fry the filled us all up, and enough the second day for us to bring a nice bunch home. LOW is still the go to fishing destination for me, not sure I could go anywhere else and have that kind of fishing.

Lake of the Woods Outdoorsman – JP is a great guy, but he had a big shot guiding service booked up in Canada, so he had AJ help us out. AJ was fantastic, helped out tremendously, took care of our fish cleaning, and was a great conversationalist. The shack was great, couldn’t ask for anything more, modern and very clean and cozy. Currently he is located off on his own away from the crowd and I think that is a bonus for catching fish. AJ went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, checked on us frequently, and made our stay a fun one. JP, the stand up guy he is, loaded up his snowmobile early Friday morning, and drove 30+ miles back to the South shore in -20+ degree weather, just to make sure he could catch us before we left, and make sure our trip was enjoyable and comfortable. Again, above and beyond great service. Will definitely give them a call again for future trips, and I highly recommend them for anyone that asks.

Thanks Lake of the Woods Outdoorsman for a fantastic trip.
