My fishfinder quit working and I tried to figure out why. The unit work on the front of the boat so I know its good. All the fuses (automotive) are good …I tested them.
The fuse block is fed by one 12VDC positive wire. When I first tested for voltage at the fishfinder terminal, I have 12.5 VDC. When I tried to turn on the unit, voltage dropped to 4VDC. When I hook a jumper wire from the feeder wire terminal to the Fishfinder, it works fine. I removed the fuse block and cleaned the fuse contacts and everything looks fine. Reassembled and it still doesn’t work. The only thing I can think of is the contacts for the fuses don’t provide enough pressure against the spade of the fuses. Thoughts?

Don’t forget to look at the ground side. A weak ground will also cause voltage issues.
