1998 150 Optimax

    Morning,

    I am looking to get into a used boat this summer. A boat popped up recently with a 98 Opti on it.

    I am familiar with the small block vs big block issues in the earlier years of production. However, I’ve heard that the 98 small blocks (1st year of production?) had some issues with TPS which were updated in 2000.

    So, simply put – does anyone here have experience with the 1st year production small blocks, and was there a factory recall that I should inquire about? This particular motor has low hours on it (around 300), so in some respects the ‘bugs’ should have all been worked out by now, correct?

    Eddie Lybeck knows more about OptiMax motors then anybody in my opinion. A quick call to him might save you time.
