I need to replace the wood bench tops on a 1972 Lund 14 foot boat. I was going to use 5/8 Marine plywood, but came across this PVC trim at Menards.

    https://www.menards.com/main/building-materials/siding/trim-boards/royal-reg-building-products-1-x-12-white-pvc-trim-board/1429239/p-1510903718990-c-13411.htm?tid=-1391480938619916048&ipos=11

The nominal thickness is 3/4, so i’m wondering if that would be an issue. The thought of not having to rip a sheet of plywood, sand and seal is tempting.

I replaced my 1989 Tyee bench top, glove box with plywood and sealed it like 6 times. It looked great and wore well though I only had one season on it.
That being said, I have used the PVC board for a number of projects and it works great. Need to seal any “edges” you create during cutting though. There is a product for that too.
Not sure on Stain but if you carpet over it it’s a snap. You can use the cement for PVC too as well as drill and screw. Pretty similar weight-wise but should last a long time.
Made this storage cabinet for under the dash out of the PVC.
A picture of my Plywood seat.

I put in new vents and the recessed, turn latches to hold is down as it wanted to bow at the ends ( not shown)
Wrong pic of lure storage – here is correct. Works great w carpet glue too
