I apologize if this is an old question. I found a used 2012 1825 MX w/ a Yamaha 200 hpdi motor. I know very little about boat motors. I have a Yamaha 4 stroke now. All I do is gas it up and have it winterized every Fall. Runs great. What are your thoughts about the 2 stroke? It was originally a demo boat from the SBC w/ one owner who is happy with it. Just getting a bigger boat. I am mainly a bass fisherman, but hit Rainy and Leech for walleyes every year. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks, Sam

I have the same motor on my WX 1900. I think it’s a great motor. Fuel filters are something you will want to replace every year or every other year. They are a little loud but not bad. I have had mine for a couple of years and no issues to date.

Here’s a thread for 2013. In a nutshell, replace the fuel filters and use ring free…

Thanks. Is there a general rule of thumb for oil use? A jug for every fill up?

Been running the 200 HPDI for the last year on my MX1825. Approx. 75 hours so far. Motor turns that boat into an animal and personally, IMHO, it’s the bomb. Oil consumption has been very good, really no worse than my Opti. Top end with this motor is 53-55 mph, so running mid-range at 40 mph allows for good mpg versus running the 150 at 40 with more foot in the throttle. Ring-free every fill up along with Mercury Quickstor to keep the gas fresh. Using the Yami oil, but switching to Amsoil HP since I had such good luck with that in my Opti-think that is just whatever your preference is.
