I noticed a small puddle of oil below my boat motor recently. It looks to be leaking out through the prop. When my dad hauled it back home for me from TN, we had to tilt the motor all the way up to get enough ground clearance. Could this have cause the oil to overflow and begin to leak. The oil level still looks good in the reservoir. Any suggestions on what to do?
Clean up the floor, put down some newspaper, and wait. See if it keeps leaking.
Generally leaks don’t just appear. If it doesn’t leak anymore, it could have been because of being tilted for a prolonged period.

More than likely it was gearlube. engine oil wont leak out of the engine unless you lay it down on the wrong side or a gasket has failed. I would take it and have the lower unit pressure tested. there may be fishing line behind the propeller that has ruined a seal.
